JeremyCuddles
Meh, didn't notice him much but not every WJC star goes on to do anything special in the NHL so him not lighting the world on fire isn't super relevant. I like his game and still think he'll be a star when it counts, when he is wearing blue and green. And occasionally red, black and yellow assuming we keep doing those in the future.

No one can finish though It was like watching Petey deal back door tap-ins during his WJC and watching Alex Nylander whiff on them. I love the Burrows comparison for this guy. Awkward skating, plays hunched over with his stick on the ice and has great hockey IQ for a 200 foot game. I really think he is the perfect winger for Horvat. Keep in mind, he's only 4 months older than Lafreniere and he's still growing. The fact that he got 6 points in seven games is reason for excitement imo. I feel like he's a Mark Stone comparable through and through.
Captain Canuck #12
I just tuned in for the last 15 minutes of the third period and kept watching for Podz, but never did see him on the ice. If he was on the ice, his shifts were either really short and/or he wasn't getting near the puck. That really surprised me in big game like this. It made me wonder if he might have a minor injury of some kind. 1
Popular Post Elias Pettersson
Podkolzin had a very good tournament for an 18 year old. I think we have not seen even 30% of the future Podkolzin. This kid will get bigger, much bigger. I wouldn’t be surprised if he gets to 215 pounds. He’s got the body type for it. He will be devastating in the corners. He’s not an elite skater but he will be a nice complimentary player to a guy like BO and Hoglander. He will win the battles in the corners, will win battles in front of the net, will kill penalties and will just be a hard guy to play against. Podkolzin along with Hoglander have high compete levels. They are both built for the NHL and for playoff hockey. 2019 could he the draft where Benning got both wingers for BO in one draft.

Tystick
I liked his game this tournament. Flashes of brilliance, but ultimately just an absolute pest to play against. Should be very effective for us and won't cost too much either. Always a plus.

Tystick
Podkolzin seems like a very smart and complete player with a playmaking instinct. Has that compete level that makes it hard for other players to deal with him. Can't wait to see how he fits in the NHL because there's so much potential there. Who knows what type of a player he becomes. Really exciting! Edited January 5, 2020 by Tystick

He seems like a guy that isn't getting many chances but is still doing everything in his power to get noticed. I kept asking to see him on the PP. Getting the Jake Virtanen treatment, outplaying the guys playing more than him but not moving up the lineup. Podkolzin is gonna be a huge fan favourite in Vancouver. Guy plays hard every time he is out there.

He drew the penalty on Bahl right near the end of the game by driving from the corner to the net...he was almost to the net when Bahl hauled him down....that stated the string of penalties that ended the game. Bothe Pdoz and Hogs are play driver's...they were both on the first PP unit and Podz had some PK time as well. They will both be just fine.... What a stupid comment from someone that did not watch. No offence.
MoneypuckOverlord
although he had 0 points in the last game, he lead all Russian forwards in Ice time. But we have a taste of how he plays, from the 2 weeks showing. I honestly can't wait to see him insereted into our line up. I believe he will be a very effective player for us with his tenacious style.
D.B Cooper
It doesn’t make sense to me how the points don’t just pile up for this kid. He plays hard, wins the battles, makes the plays. But just doesn’t get the points he works so hard for. Is it a case of “it will go in for him eventually” or is his game the thankless behind the scenes workhorse. He plays the right way..... Who knows. 1

He deserves more points but he certainly wasn't taking over. So many people here are really trying their best to hold the rose coloured glasses to their faces. He's a long way of being a benefit for us as a skill player. He puts his teammates into bad positions with his passes in the neutral zone, has a lot of turnovers on the cycle and ultimately doesn't think the game well (yet) when checked heavily. He'll get there but he definitely isn't there yet. He wasn't dominant in the tournament (rather invisible if we compare him to some other more prominent Russians). He's young, still has lots of time but he has the tools he just needs to figure out how to use them. His foreechecking is fantastic though and his board play is great for his age. He's hit and miss with his passing/timing but he can figure that out. We'll see eventually if things click but right now he's gonna be more of a checker than a skill guy.
