They can dangle him that carrot for first line minutes, and keep yo-yoing him up and down, in and out of the lineup, but Vasili knows his future is in Vancouver.  He is not going to sign that extension with SKA, and quite honestly, the continuous political usage of him will only drive him into the arms of the Canucks.

Cannot wait to see him in Blue and Green

he's getting the Virtanen treatment

Errr NO. The coach has a job to do, he wants tp preserve his own job and he knows Podkolzin will not be with the team next season. He couldn't give a flying you know what about the development of Podkolzin.

Not sure you wanted to leave such a gaping hole but ....... 1. coach has a job to do 2. wants to keep his job 3. yet won't play an effective young player who might help his team win 4. which is what he needs to do to keep his job.

Unless winning games is not the ultimate goal of KFL teams and KFL coaches? Perhaps coach Valery being pressured not to play Pods?

Perhaps.... but for totally opposite reasons. Virtanen gets that treatment for lacklustre compete performance. The same can not be said for Podkolzin; his compete level is not an issue.

I know I was just goofing.

I actually don't have an issue with how the Russians are developing him, he needs to learn to deal with situations that aren't ideal and rise above, and he's doing that.

Podkolzin is 14th in scoring on the St Petes team. Linden Vey has 300% more points than Podkolzin so it you're the coach who do you play the senior players producing and above him in points or Vasiliy

Chicken or the egg. Is he 14th in points because of his wacky usage, or is his usage limited because he's not producing?

All things being equal, Corsi ratios tend to range between 40-60 per cent for most players and teams. An elite number is usually around 55 per cent or better while anything below 45 per cent tends to below average. Of course, an individual skater’s Corsi results should always be considered in the context of his team.

So, 83.3% is good, right?

corsi is next to useless out of context. The fantasy guys drool over it, but without looking at how a player was deployed you can't tell anything from 50%+.-10% corsi.

83% is good. But sometimes so is 40%. But so is 60%. 90% would have been better.

Example

Virtanen has better corsi than bo last year.

sometimes when you pair it with zone starts you can appreciate a player more, like Beagle who people rag on for corsi but seem to forget he has some games when he has nearly 100% d zone draws.

I don't a huge difference in his development compared to other kids in his age group.

The only issue I have is them not giving him PP time.

Other then that his usage is on par IMO.

Also, being humbled at 19 is a great test of ones maturity and work ethic. The kid has not once complained and goes out and competes every shift.

I have never been more intrigued with a prospect and that includes our young studs.

I'm not saying he will be better than Petey or Quinn but just the fact that even tho he has six points the vast majority of Nuck fans (surprisingly) see the true value he will bring, he's a perfect example of why stat watching is useless.
