No. 2 hours ago, Virtanen#18 said: Seems to me he's got great talent but lacks consistency and focus... not sure if he'll be ready to join us in 2021-22 season.... He's got great talent and focus, as well as the reputation of a hard worker. He was also named captain of the Russian WJ team. He needs some grooming, sure, but from what I've heard, if it weren't for his 2 years left on his KHL deal, he would have gone earlier in the draft. He was widely considered 'NHL Ready' or very close at that time. 1 1

J.I.A.H.N
My Dad used to say, "the Proof is in the Pudding", which I always felt, that means, we will see! I love the little I have seen of Pods, and am looking so very forward to seeing him in the World Juniors A lot of top 20 of the 2019 draft class will be there So, although this will be only one tournament, and even though Covid has screwed up alot of the training My Dad's words will be applied.............Let's see what you got there Vasili PS..........I am not expecting him to be a top point getter, but rather an all round strong pain in the A$$ Totally revised! RakuRaku
18 hours ago, Herberts Vasiljevs said: What gives you that idea? If anything, he's renowned for bringing a relentless work ethic and being dialed in every night. He's just not a terrific finisher as of right now. His shot still needs a bit of work - but at least that's something that, no matter what stage of your career you're in, can always be worked on. But to answer your question: no, Podkolzin is not a Russian Virtanen... That's a very lazy and not very thoughtful comparison. Well.. thanks for answering... I'm not a Pro Scout and had no time to follow Podkolzin closely... all I saw based on YouTube videos was that he's pretty fast and aggressive but lacks pure offensive skills.... so, you didn't have to call me lazy and and not very thoughtful... just throwing a question out there! No need to get all critical dude...

He was widely considered 'NHL Ready' or very close at that time. As I recall he had the most minutes of all Russian forwards at last year’s world juniors. Played both PK and PP as one of the youngest players on the team. The coaches did this because Podkolzin couldn’t be trusted and was captain in their last tournament because he was lazy and couldn’t be relied on. It was a total accident that he led his team in points and was played in all situations. Total bust, no doubt. And no, I’m not going to throw shade on Hoglander to praise Podkolzin. Miraculously, Jimbo might have actually made the most of his draft picks in the first two rounds 1
Sedinyoureyesontheprize
The head coach of the Russian youth team Igor Larionov shared his thoughts on the completed first stage of the Eurotour - the Karjala Cup, and also spoke about plans to prepare for the World Youth Championship (Edmonton, Canada). - Two days have passed since the victory in the Karjala Cup. Did you manage to analyze the victory? - First of all, I want to thank the players - for their efforts and for the game, as well as the entire coaching staff and team staff: the huge layer of work that people do, providing players with the opportunity to simply enjoy the game, remains behind the scenes. FHR gave us a chance to play at an important tournament and everyone took this chance as they should - with all seriousness. We didn’t have a training camp, it’s not that easy, but I will note the hockey players, they came to the tournament in good shape. Thanks to the KHL clubs, whose management entrusts the playing time to the young guys. They prove they can compete at the highest level. I am satisfied with the working process that has developed in our coaching staff. Sergey Golubovich, Vladimir Filatov, Vladimir Potapov - they know the players very well, they are high-level coaches, strong specialists. Nikolay Khabibulin works great with goalkeepers - he was a great player, it's nice to see how he is now developing as a coach. As for the analysis of the game in the tournament, it is being conducted. This is not done quickly - coaches, analysts, scouts and the national team headquarters are involved. This is an important part of our work and, as I said, pleasant concerns. From a group of players where everyone deserves a place in the squad, we need to choose those who are best prepared. - What did you like most about the team's game? - Rather not one thing, but the sum of what he saw. The guys took well what we offered them. Tactical training is visible - many of them have played for the junior national teams, performing at the big junior tournaments. FHR has built a great training system, has built a vertical in which players develop. It helps us, as coaches, directly in the preparation and management of the team during the matches. Perhaps, in the game I will especially note the control of the puck and the confidence that the guys felt. Overall, we controlled the puck more than our rivals. It seems that this is a small thing, but these are the things that determine victories. - Tell us briefly about the plan of preparation for the World Championship. When does the collection start? - Most likely, the collection will start on November 28. Now the virus is making adjustments, in addition to the usual monitoring of the state of the players, we need to set time for additional tests for COVID-19. In Novogorsk, we will work on physics, keeping in mind the quarantine, which will have to take place in Edmonton - it is important to keep fit during this period. Thanks to modern technology, this is not so bad. Although a few days without ice is not a gift, all participants are in the same conditions. The safety of the players and everyone involved in the tournament comes first. On December 13 we fly to Canada - by the way, again through Helsinki, now a happy city for us. We will play two exhibition matches before the tournament - against Slovakia and Canada, and we will be ready to start at the MFM. 1
