Just seems like a weird comparison. By all accounts Pod has played as advertised. A hard nosed game with some skill to compliment any player he plays with. Popular Post CRAZY_4_NAZZY
Podz will never bring flash but simply has a pro based game where he just works hard. Certain individuals getting too spoiled with elite talent with Petey and Huggy who have tons of flash and expect all prospects to replicate the same. Podkolzin is a different breed. Petey and Hughes may bring the excitment and points, but you need a mix of other players where they bring the heart and increase the intensity/work ethic. Podkolzin helps you win games in other ways besides points. 3

You can’t even make the argument that we should have drafted Zegras since he went a pick earlier, remember? 1 hour ago, Squamfan said: He is supposed to dominate his age group yet I haven’t even seen him today he been quiet and not for a good reason You shouldn’t assume anything. That’s not a good mindset to go by with prospects. Development is unpredictable. You should know by now that Pod isn’t a flashy or super offensive player either. He isn’t a typical forward. Pods bread and butter is his all-around PWF game which he’s shown. Think Landeskog-like. Shouldn’t make generalizations based off one game or even a tourney. Especially the WJC. Virtanen didn’t have a great tourney and he’s playing in the NHL now. Some players that have had good tourneys don’t make it to the bigs or take a lot longer than expected. Should wait till he plays in the NHL first. That will determine where he’s at and what to expect moving forward more definitively. 2 4

Outsiders
He skates like Matt Tkachuk. Honestly tough game for Podz -2 on the night. Did some good things like taking the puck to the net but again nothing to show for. I swear you put him with guys that dish the puck and you will see results. His line mates don't pass

Same as last year's WJHC. Not living up to his draft position. Our best hope for Podz to turn out to be a top six NHLer is that Craig Button seems to think he will be, and fortunately, Craig is usually right. I watched the games and he had a very good series. as mentioned above, he is not flashy. He leaves that to other players. He is a player that is relied on by they coach to do the things that need to be done. He is also very good defensively too. So, the Russian coach had him playing the D side as well as in the offensive zone. 1
appleboy
This kid is a two way player. I don't expect a ton of points. A shut down checker who can score. He is the type of player who dose the dirty work. Every cup contender needs them. 2

The Russian team had the score to win and Pods was making sure of the W. Positionally I liked his game. Not as much net front presence as against Canada but again it wasn't needed as they led. This is a big Russian team and it appears to me that they can grow their game towards a rematch against Canada. 2
Popular Post Rollieo Del Fuego
All this talk of Podz being disappointing is....just wrong.... Open your eyes people ....watch the players not just the game.... Podz stole at least 4-5 pucks and turned the play the other way....he had the same # of hits...he came close to scoring 3-4 times over the 2 games and his linemates did not make any good passes to him...only the other way around. Someone mentioned Landeskog as a comparable and that seems about right to me.... Podz will be fine.... Just watch....! ...try squinting and looking out of the corner of your eye if you can't see it already...! 2 2
