I believe , and this is just my opinion to be clear, that not being cable to speak English and communicate directly to the coaches and his teammates was a huge factor in him leaving. Larionov broke in Bure and he never should have been traded. Then we had 55 goal Mogilny. He didn't score at the u-20 tourney,but he was a powerful, puck possession guy who was noticeable when he had the puck and Russia very rarely plays any 17 year olds. Hughes waited less than a year, and Petey was in the NHL after just one year. That being said, I imagine of the players left only Podkolzin and maybe Boldy would likely be NHL ready in the same timeframe that Petey and Hughes were, so you're probably right about anyone else taking 2 years or more. I'd still love to see us negotiate for his release after one season, especially if he lights it up next year. It'd be pretty cool to see him and Tryam back in the lineup at the same time.
