Petey doesn't even pronounce his own name Swedish style, so I wouldn't rely on his pronunciation of Hogs' name.

dpn1
Hoglander, "There Can Be Only One" and play Queen's "Prince's of the Universe" when he scores. PS - I'm a big Highlander fan.
dpn1
Oh, I forgot. Does anyone think Travis will sit Hoglander the first game or 2 like he did with Brock in his rookie season?
Googlie
Doubt it - with JT possibly missing both Oilers games, Hogz is playing on pp1
Nucker 67
I thought it was pronounced HOG-LANDER, like the pig, but apparently its pronounced HOAG-LANDER? Is this correct?
Googlie
Hmm - just watched the Swedish commentators on one of his lacrosse goals. - they were saying "Huglander" as in "give me a hug" (I'd post the link, but there are about 3 mins of ads before the clip starts)

Like hug. But with the stress on the second syllable, the G sound continued into the second syllable, and with a slight roll to the L. Hu(g)-GLAN-der (Like how the Swedish women says it in the recording sample) And for bonus level Scandinavian: Try singing it, and now you’re speaking Norwegian. Try saying it with a hot potato in your mouth, and now you’re speaking Danish.
GoldenAlien
From Benning: SN: And it looks like they’ll be joined by another young forward in Nils Hoglander, the 20-year-old who was the story of your camp. You said months ago that you thought Hoglander would be able to play in the NHL this season even though his stats in Sweden were just OK. How did you know? JB: Because the things that he is really good at, we figured they would translate to the smaller ice surface and the North American game. He may look small but he’s five-foot-nine and 190 pounds and strong on the puck. In the scrimmage the other day, he went behind the net and battled Alex Edler for the puck twice. Eddie’s six-foot-three and 215 pounds, but this guy came out with the puck. He likes to battle. He’s a highly competitive kid. The way he skates, a real good release on his shot, we just thought the things he does well translates to the smaller ice surface. He shows up every day, puts his work boots on and competes. Also, he's officially on the roster: Time to move this thread! 1 1

Popular Post Provost
Wow... I know it is just the start and he is in mid season form compared to the rest of the guys... but he looked like a player out there in his first period of actual play. He was dishing the puck and showing his skill. Probably one of the most noticeable forwards on the team I thought. I will do my best to not get too excited, but if he can stay on that 2nd line (he doesn’t have a lot of competition) we could have another of the better rookies for the season.
