Definitely the nicest lacrosse style goal I’ve seen scored in pro hockey. Like you said, the Svechnikov goals pale in comparison. People say “try that in the NHL” but really, what we see with Svechnikov is a guy being given a 20 foot free lane to do whatever the hell he wants. Höglander is under check, and makes a play to himself off the back of the net, dangles the defender into making a try for the puck, and then pulls off the Michigan when the defender attempts the stick check. So much extra value in Höglander’s goal, compared to others. Even if he’d just stepped out and shot a wrister or backhand, it would have been a special play. I would love it if Hoglander to be better than Nylander, but at the same age in the same league, Nylander outscored Hoglander by a large margin.
