You could have told me I was watching a 2nd round pick play in that tournament and I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. So great to be adding these high value picks late. if he has a decent rest of his SHL year I think he may have just earned himself a contract.

Googlie
I forget - is Costmar credited to Gradin's scouting? (I wonder if Gradin double hats for Detroit as well - they sure have unearthed some great Swedish prospects)

How often does a Swede draw this many comparisons with Fins? That's a good thing in my books. Great pick, whether or not he ultimately makes our team (but I think he will). Yeah, we have a couple of these center prospects including Karlsson (6'00" 179 21yrs), (Focht 6'1" 176 20yrs) - but Zlodeyev (5'11" 185 18yrs) is similar in stature to Costmar (5'11" 179 19yrs), and in work-rate, but who also brings considerable skill. The scouting staff seem to have been looking for a type when they identified these players - they may not share Motte's willingness to hit everything that moves, but they are both - Costmar and Zlodeyev - fiends for close checking and forcing turnovers and bad plays as well as maintaining good coverage. These two are not unlike Jasek (6"1' 184 23yrs). If they are looking for future bottom six centers - they may well have found some in the bargain basement. If they end up more skillful than expected, surely that is a good thing. They seem to be looking for something else in late round picks (free agent in the case of MacEwen) for the wings: MacEwen (6'3" 205 24yrs, Podkolzin (6'4" 205 19yrs of course, a first pick), Bailey (6'4" 214 25yrs), McDonough (6"3" 190 21yrs), Keppen (6'2" 210 19yrs), and Kunz (6'3" 215 18yrs). Hoglander, Lockwood and Plasek break this mold - but Hoglander is ferocious for his size, highly skilled, always busy and could easily have been a first round pick. That should be either the U-20 team roster or his KHL team's roster. No point in looking at any of those other sources that are either too dated, or wouldn't have obtained direct measurements themselves.

Those were likely his draft measures and they won't likely get updated until he actually gets to the NHL (or even more common, like a year later).

On ice, he seemed taller than 6’1”, but hard to tell for sure. At least he plays big. Maybe you could sneak through the bubble when he finally gets here, pull out a tape, and size him up, I am not that brave!

SID.IS.SID.ME.IS.ME
What a shame for him to lose his season to injury and surgery. But I suppose if you’re going to lose a season, this would be the one to do it, with all the COVID-19 stuff. Hopefully he gets a good result from the operation and comes back strong for next season, and no lingering issues from the surgery and rehab. Gurn
Actually a player, that is also a surgeon, could save the organization a fair bit of cash. Plus he could do the surgeries while the team is on the road, no need to fly home. Save on recovery time as well. #winning.

Dr. Arvid Costmar is an orthopaedic surgeon at only 19 years of age, and is performing operations on himself. I kind of skipped the doing his own surgery part. Wonder if he had to use the scalpel in the wrong hand? Most likely had to do all the cutting with out anesthesia as well. Pending teammates are advised to up their game/skills and try to bring a little more of what ever else they do.
