There are two high end, legit shutdown lines - both Sutter and Beagle are as good as they come - and they have a complement of excellent wingers - Roussel, Virtanen, Motte, Leivo - those are two of the better shutdown lines in the league, and most of those guys can counterpunch score in transition. Edler, Tanev, Myers and Benn - can all handle penalty killing, matchups - and both Edler and Myers can produce. The top six is now two lines of legit scoring threat - Miller EP Boeser is very exciting, with the right mix imo, and the Horvat Pearson (Baer/Virt whomever) is a line that can score, defend, and pose a real transition threat as well. Beyond that - Hughes brings elite puck moving, mobility and upside, while Stecher was breaking out last year with an outstanding two-way season - and both of these guys will now play under better conditions suited for them to succeed - if the team is remotely healthy. That is a team that is built solidly front to back top to bottom - with a two way game - it can defend, and it can score - and it should have solid goaltending. There may be an area or two they could improve - I might like a bit more Gudbranson element in that mix, but between Myers size, Benn's grit, and Miller's pwf game, I'm pretty happy that the team got not only bigger and more skilled, but also harder to play against - meanwhile, fighting becomes less and less frequent (the two SCFinalists, Boston and ST Louis had very little 'deterrent' factor in their lineups, and neither team was 'soft' by any stretch of the imagination). Anyone that can't at all appreciate the team the Canucks are emerging into just doesn't get/appreciate a two way hockey build imo. Benning is building depth and team character.. these analysts just see singular. 1
RUPERTKBD
100+ pages......only on CDC. TBH, I think this is a decent signing. 6 million per is not bad in this day and age and Myers will still be in his mid 30s when the contract is up. A least he won't be eating 3 million in Cap space a decade after he leaves....
J.I.A.H.N
I am pretty happy this mornings additions Decent money No NTC when it counts...….. The question of the day is, where are we going to score our goals from? The question I have is......are we with the additions of JT Miller, Myers, Benn, Hughes, and Demko, 20 + goals in differential?.....I think so, maybe more Is that +20 goal differential worth 10+ Point improvement ?, I think so, maybe more I see this as a win I think the question is more, are we going to get the 1st half Pettersson or the 2nd half Pettersson? That to me is the bigger question

All in all, Myers may held our club for 1-2 years as depth D . but the contract may be a bit smelly the last few years though...... As you can see the future, what's the wining lotto number? I'm no genius when it comes to team-building, but what a difference compared to Toronto. Top-heavy with skilled forwards, but what else? Zero balance, no hard-minutes bottom-6 lines, D is a wasteland, goaltending inconsistent. Petan is their solution at 4C? If I'm a TO fan I think I'd start demanding some accountability -- that massive front office but what exactly are you guys doing here? 1

We should be able to get a 7th rnd pick for him from Toronto.. seems to be their type of player, same skill set, easily fit into there system. Popular Post JeremyCuddles
Myers averaged 20 minutes a game last season and averages roughly 23 a game over his career. But yeah, a 3rd pairing d-man Legit if this were Toronto they'd be gushing over a Rielly/Myers duo and how it is gonna bring them a cup. 2

Ballisticsports.
I haven't looked at the contract, just saw the acquisition But,like (not only) Louii the success rate of any ufa is not that good and should be prepared (He didn't bring a stronger Jet team a cup, so expectations should not be skyhigh) As long as you are not giving away draft picks, and can use this person as potentially getting back draft picks (and not keeping too long, till the player has no value) I like it I don't like pricey saddled contracts that you are stuck with Maybe we could use him, sell high near end of year and get picks, or trade someone else to obtain more picks? I am just GLAD to see our defence have a different look this year (talk about stale and no creativity or toughness in the past)

Toss in whatever Quinn adds plus healthy / improved Brock/Bo/Pettersson and a full season of Pearson and hopefully Baertschi. But yeah, who’s gonna score?! 20+ goal scorers Boeser Petterson Horvat Miller Should be around 20 goals Baertschi Pearson Could be around 20 goals Virtanen Sutter 10+ goals Edler Myers Rousell Motte Gaudette Half the roster should be in double digits in goals scored and potentially 3 30+ goal scorers in Petey, Brock and Horvat. Hughes not even factored in yet and how he can uptick the forwards point totals. But "nOt eNoUgH sKilL". Suck it TSN.

Just long enough for Paterson to ask Benning why he spent so much on a bottom-pairing dman and why he didn't get a first-pairing guy like Gardiner instead. 2
