Hairy Kneel
Scoring by committee I think, better PP with more net front presence, a lot of PK crews, easier on Tanev. D that can clear the crease. Skills guys can relax and play their game not chase hits. Pearson/Lievo/Baerschti/Jake/ can buck up in the 15-20 goal dept 4th line scoring will be found money.

There was no Panarin in Eriksson's UFA class, but I do see what you mean in that it could raise Eriksson's value. Actually, I could argue that Myers is the best defenseman in this draft class which is why he was tagged as potentially making 7 or 8 mil per season.

BTW, who were the 4 defenders ahead of him on the depth chart? He averaged over 20 minutes per game.... 1

We should be able to get a 7th rnd pick for him from Toronto.. seems to be their type of player, same skill set, easily fit into there system. My point was Pettersson's first half was incredible, and he slowed down the second half Nothing wrong with that for a player in his first pro-season But it had an effect on our points, IMO I do not expect any worse from Pettersson I am just saying, that if he plays and scores as he did with his first half and with the additions of Miller, Myers, Hughes, etc, we will have absolutely scoring more goals If he falls back like he did in the second half, well I still believe we will score more goals But he is an important cog in the wheel...…………. We are better...…...the question is how much? 1

Edler, Tanev, Hughes and Stetcher is what i would go with... TBH. but of course more depth is good and Myers can fill in as needed...... I don't say its a terrible signing for the next 2 years... We may not need him in the lineup in 2-3 years time though if things go as planned with our up can coming younger D men. The primary point of this signing is year 1 and getting Jim B his contract extension.... Edited July 1, 2019 by kingofsurrey

To be fair pretty much that entire team struggled this season. I agree with him playing smaller than he is though. I don't think very many are, at least they shouldn't be, expecting him to be some crease clearing bully. He's decent offensively, decent defensively, and has good size and fills a dire need as a top 4 RH d-man. Given more PP looks and playing with Hughes or Edler will likely give him a pretty decent boost in scoring totals. For 6 mil it's not bad. Decent term, decent dollars, decent top 4 player. Knock on wood, hopefully he can stay healthy here. The biggest thing plaguing our defense is almost always health.

IMO, Myers will play with Hughes on the second pairing, but it's entirely possible that they bump Edler-Tanev at some point in the season. 1

It's not as bad as I feared, which was 6 years and 7 million or so. JB is improving with his contracts, which is good news, and this is pretty reasonable for Myers. Edler clears out in two years, Lou's money is off the table a year later, then we just need another top 6 forward and to clean up the mess of our bottom six. Add in Woo and OJ and Pods coming over and we are actually looking pretty damn good. Edited July 1, 2019 by steviewonder20
Popular Post oldnews
A few weeks ago I would have considered a Myers signing, even at not as positive terms as they turned out to be - and an addition like Brock Nelson - to have been absolutely best case scenario as results in UFA. Well - Myers came in at best case scenario in all senses - cap, term and no NMC at the expansion draft. And while Nelson re-signed with the Isles (5 yrs 30 million) - the Canucks acquired a guy that may be a better fit than Nelson was. Add a relative steal - 2 x 2 for Benn as a 3LHD - and I think Benning et al have crushed their summer work thus far. Exceeded expectations, exceeded even high hopes imo. 8

It just seems counter to the type of man he is - simple, earnest and hard working. He’s just not this calculated (and this would be my main criticism of him if and when I feel it’s time to be critical).
