[Signing] Tyler Myers to Vancouver

Myers isn't going to get first unit PP time. If we are running the 4 forward 1 d setup, he's not getting PP time barring injuries.

Speaking of PP, I really hope we fired our PP coach lol.

they ran a 4f pp because they had no other options.........I'd bet they'd have Myers riding shotgun with QH on the pp.  Hughes is a great set up guy and Myers has a great shot.

Personally, I'm more interested in Myers' ability on the PK. If he can take away some hard minutes from Tanev and hammer the puck from the point, then absolutely I want Tyler Myers. If he can't be solid on the PK, it's a hard pass for me.

I'd agree with that

Leaving Quinn Hughes off of the top unit would be a huge mistake but I would not be surprised to see it.

He will be a key player on the second unit.

They don’t wanna give him too much too soon. Let him earn his way up to the 1st unit.

They’ve also gotta be conscious of his first contract. Don’t wanna inflate those numbers too much.

That spooner buyout makes it look like we are landing Myers.

I think Myers is a given. For me, it says were going to be active besides landing Myers. Benning is gonna surprise us with something.

How I would like it to play out is:

Myers @ 6mill over 5 years

Nyquist @ 5.5 mill over 3 years

Chiarot @ 2 mill for 1 year

Boeser resigned @ 6.75 mill over 6-7

McElhinney @ max ahl salary for a 2 way contract.

Trade Sutter for 3rd or 4th round pick. Saves 4.38 cap hit.

Try to package Eriksson (25% retention) with Sven to Ottawa for a late pick? Ottawa definitely needs to hit the cap floor. So this helps both. We eat Eat 1.5 mill cap hit on Loui and shed 7.87 in the process.

Sign Leivo @ 2 mill per for 2 years.

Miller - Pete - Boeser

Pearson - Bo - Nyquist

Virtanen - Gauds - Leivo

Motte - Beagle - MacEwen

Ex. Schaller    (ir) Roussel, until christmas.

Edler - Myers

Hughes - Tanev

Chiarot - Stecher

Ex. Biega, Sautner/Brisebois

Marky

Demko

If were out of it come TDL

Trade Tanev and sign Tryamkin to come over.

Shop chiarot, replace with Brisebois.

Couldn't disagree more with the bolded.  Do you really think management and the coach would deliberately try and restrict the points a player gets to save a few dollars later on his contract.  By that logic, we shouldn't have had Petey on the PP last year because it's going to cost us later !!

Their BIGGEST goal is to make the playoffs and start this ball rolling.  They want Hughes to be a huge success that drives offense.

Of course they want success for him that goes without saying. You also want your players to earn their ice time.

You’re assuming that Hughes is going to take power play time from 10 year vets, which is a bit of a stretch.

If he earns that time great. You can’t hand it to him though.

Like all those moves but I think those salaries might be a bit optimistic.

Myers is likely over 6 mil as is Nyquist who just put up 60 points.

Boeser on a 6 or 7 year contract is probably gonna cost 7.5 mil. Maybe on a shorter bridge deal we get him cheaper.

Regardless I hope Benning can do something along these lines.

Lol. Green sets the lines and pp. Ya. He is asking JB how to set the pp units based on future salary.  Haha.  That's hilarious!

He scored 36 points two seasons ago.

i don’t think 4 points is insurmountable with first unit power play time.

He scored 0 goals and 7 assists on the PP last year. I know he played behind some guys but that's not a guy you want anywhere near your 1st PP unit.

Don’t even really need to provide a counterpoint since you already did.

Seven assists is pretty good playing on the second unit. I’m sure he could put up quite a bit more playing with Pettersson and Boeser.

You're probably right. But if Nyquist wants more than 4 years I walk and target someone like Donskoi or Ferland. There is going to be some deals this summer, people are more cap conscious.

Oh man.

FERLAND - GAUDETTE - VIRTANEN

They would be an absolute pain in the ass. Ferland hopefully would rub off on Virtanen playing bigger.

The only thing that worries me about Ferland is injury history. He actually is pretty skilled, for a guy who is such a pain in the ass.

Ferland at 4 million over 3, would have the potential to be a decent contract.

Curious who Myers signs with if the Canucks don't sign him.

Anyone heard of any other team with interest?

The Jets are still a strong possibility.

As is any team that missed out on Karlsson.
