I like that Benning brought in Miller, they need help in their top 6. I'm hopeful Benning can sign a top 4 Dman and trade Eriksson and Sutter.

Uhhhh what.

You literally just said he overpaid for Miller and isnt savvy enough to sign Myers at below the going rate.

How many top 4 rhd are on the Fa market rn. Which one you want? What's it cost? Is it worth it? Will you be the first to throw stones when it doesnt work out?

TO just paid a 1st to rid themselves of 1 year of Marleau what do you pay to get rid of 3 years of Eriksson. 3 1sts?????

All these rumored signings are looking like a bunch of smoke screens for someone they are actually targetting:  I dont recall anyone talking about the Miller trade or even the LE signing...  Maybe, a Panaren (the Canucks need a D) or perhaps a Strallman for decent term/cost ???????

Hopefully, the LE situation is still enough of an inconvenience to the Canucks to shop wisely.

Don’t even really need to provide a counterpoint since you already did.

Seven assists is pretty good playing on the second unit. I’m sure he could put up quite a bit more playing with Pettersson and Boeser.

Oh, I agree that he would as well. Anyone in his position would. I just hope he doesn't get 1st unit PP time, as it would be like putting a square peg in a round hole. Personally, I'd rather have a 4th forward like Baertschi, Goldobin or Leivo on the 1st unit. My first preference would be to acquire a more suitable defender than Myers though. Tomorrow should be interesting.

I don’t see that as a square peg.

Myers can shoot the puck. Something none of our current D men can do.

Notice how easy our power play was to defend when we had no threat of a point shot?

I don’t see another forward adding anything to that unit unless we can add a high end skilled guy like Nyquist.

I remember things differently. I remember the LE signing being a forgone conclusion much like Myers is right now. Nucks needed a scorer to help the Sedins, and LE was not only arguably the best goal forward that year in FA but had had passed success with the twins in international play.

Not sure if it was being rumored but that is my recollection.

I rather the Nucks sign three cheap undervalued defencemen on short term deals than signing Myers for 7x7 years.

Right what we need is

Hughes Schenn

Edler Stetcher

Phaneuf Tanev

Playoffs baby!!!

Please NO Myers at 7 million.... Ericksson all over again

a few D men available in the 3-5 million range grab one of them as a placeholder

Unless were trying to buy our way into the playoffs?

I would rather give up to get Ristolianen in a Trade at 24yrs 5.4m for 3 or 4 years than sign Myers.

Would you rather be young and poor or old and rich ?

Ristolianen would cost a fortune in trade, he is not a FA, Ristolianen may not want to play in Vancouver , other team may offer better pieces in trade 9if Buff trade him)...so many questions ….

Oh god...not again.  :picard:

There was interest from a number of teams to get the services of 1st line NHLer JT Miller.  Therefore, the team that really wanted him had to pay market price.

It really is not that difficult to understand but some people just don't have the cognitive abilities to do so I suppose.

I am very happy we got a 1st line player that can play any position and is big and rough.  Awesome trade for the Canucks.

Care to explain how he's a 1st line player? Legit 2nd liner, for sure, but 1st?
