thank god.

I don't like the Hutty move. I am in the minority but I thought he was ok although $4M is steep.

There's more crap on the roster than Hutty.

4 million for Hutton??!! No way he's worth that.

I love Hutty’s happy-go-lucky attitude, but unfortunately he’s been in over his head a lot of times (forced to play a bigger role with all our injuries than he was capable of). Never quite lived up to his contract expectations. So it makes sense to let him walk considering we have Juolevi coming up and the whole speculation of Myers or Barrie signing/trade.

If so, my best wishes to you buddy. Keep smiling:)

I agree that Hutton isn't worth 4+ over a multi year deal, but a 1x4 wouldn't hurt unless we plan on taking in more cap in a Panarin or cap dump. It's still an over payment, but at least it's manageable and he could be flipped later

Not so sure.

Hutton is a decent 5th guy and mediocre top 4 player...  4.5 to pay a bottom pairing guy.  Sbisa 2.0

Would rather take that 4.5 and get Benn or Dillon etc.

With Hughes and Edler plus OJ, Biega, Saunter, Brisbiois etc why pay Hutton 4.5 for any reason.  Heck  help Trymakin buyout his deal and give him the 4.5 and we would be better off in many ways.

Hutton is a great guy but he was given too much money.  $2.8 is too high, he is a 5/6 and should be making closer to half that.  He is one of the RFA's who have some value, just not at that salary.  The salary does his career no good and I imagine that Benning hasn't been able to move him at that salary.

Unfortunately, I think the Canucks will miss Hutton not even a little.  He would be quite easy to replace.

He's not Puliot, we shouldn't be losing him for nothing.

its not for nothing, its to save over 4 mil in cap space.

They tried to move him last year, and at this years TDL. No one wanted him.

Guys don't get QOs all the time, Hutty isn't the first and won't be the last.

Question...can the Canucks not qualify but then sign as a UFA?

Yes. I'm guessing this is exactly what the Canucks are trying to do with Hutton. Instead of risking having an arbitrator award him with a $4 million+ AAV contract, they're taking the risk of trying to sign him to a cheaper deal.

My Hutty jersey is gonna collect alot of dust in the back of the closet if this happens :(

Well, that's what you get for buying a Hutton jersey.

True nobody wanted him last year but he had a nice bounce back year. I call BS that they tried to trade him in the middle of a playoff race with our injuries and how playoff crazy our ownership and management are. Yes it's steep, but he's a good depth option it sucks to keep losing nhl players again and again for nothing. Asset management is what seperates the top organizations from the rest.
