Rafferty is the guy I want to see get a legitimate opportunity. He looked so confident in his outing, like he belonged. Didn't look out of place whatsoever. Can't wait to see what this guy has with more games.

Only two guys I would be interested in from the whole list is Nick Cousins and Ryan Hartman, but then again we have a slew of bottom six guys.

If they don't accept, as you can see from that list, there are probably 3 or 4 guys on that list that could be signed for the same or less, who would be pretty close to Hutton in performance.

He was drafted 147th overall in the 5th round.  He played the 25th most games in the NHL of the entire draft class and the most from the 5th round.  He is a very successful 5th round pick.  He is just not worth the cap hit.  This is the right thing to do.  He is a 5-7th defenceman at best and we shouldn't spend over 4 million on that.

Hutton will get two years at 2.5 to 3 million per from Ottawa.  I think JB will sign a UFA for 1.5 to play in our bottom pair.

I think we'll look at Jordan Benn, personally. Could be some others, but I see him as a target for them.

isn't granny up against the same issue as hutton?

if qualified he would have arbitration rights

and so he could file.. which creates cost uncertainty for the team

i believe that is the main reason why hutton was not qualified

i think the team would have risked 2.8 for another year of hutton

but did not want to be forced to accept an arbitration amount

Gaunce grandlund hutton the lucky ones getting away from this train wreck. 

Best of luck to them. Although I guess nobody will sign them because they have no value and couldn’t be traded for a bag a bag of pick. 

Pooalot good riddance wasn’t a fan before he came have fun in Europe.

Granlund just feels like Eriksson most of the time.  Decent d from a forward but effort seems robotic.  Time to move on since we have Motte, Roussel, Leivo, Pearson etc.

 

Goldobin’s first full NHL development year was last year and now he just needs to make a serious jump which I think he may.

I think some of the best player on the list of RFAs not being qualified are Hutton and Granlund so I doubt the Canucks will be interested in these players.

We shouldn’t qualify Hutton.  He’d get 4 million in salary arbitration, and that way too much for him.  Granlund is not worth more than league minimum, which is what he will get somewhere.

My understanding is that the players not qualified became UFA’s as of 2:00 today. That’s why there was a rush to try to trade Hutton prior to the deadline
