After reading through several posts in several threads that stink of myopic HF-BOARD-itis, this was a breath of fresh air.

Uh... did you even look at the poll results? This forum is like the exact opposite of HFBoards.

How is a pro-Benning post a breath of fresh air? It's about all we get here. Just look at this thread as a microcosm lol.

Did you even read what I wrote?  I read through several anti-benning posts, and in my sequence of reading the post was a breath of fresh air.

The HFBOARDitis stink is heavier than usual, but keep up the good work I suppose.

I also want to say that saying yes or no to wanting Benning is pretty black and white.

There is a range, change the question to how good a job overall and be done or something like that.  If this was worded differently and a few more options were available (terrible, pretty bad, below average, average, above average, good, great) this poll would look a lot different.  I’d rank him above average-good.

Edit:  I will also make the prediction that if and when he’s fired there will be other opportunities for work, and I’d bet that it will be for a team that needs a rebuild...

I was very pro benning up until draft day.  I dont know how i feel about Podkolzin, and im sketchy about the miller trade when we had a glut of forwards and not enough defense. Cant help but be afraid miller will pan out as a “loui” as opposed to top six.

Im on the fence, but if jb overpays a free agent defenseman, i think hes gone next year. I cant see it going well.

Could just as easily be a string of brilliant moves. Time will tell.

On the fence

Well Podkozin will end up being  top 3 guys out of the draft..This 18 yr old will show his talent in this years U20 Jr Tourney..

I think he would of gone higher in draft but teams get scared off with him signing a KHL contract for 2 yrs....

He will be over here after his second year as KHL season is over in late March.....

Can't wait for this guy to play in Canuck uniform...

Ppdkoizin 6'1, 195 lbs, 18 yrs old----- 2yrs will play at 215 lbs, power forward with lots of skill and gritty...awesome pick JB and staff

again , you didnt read what I wrote, instead you go on and entertain yourself with your typical low grade attempts to mock and insult.

I said in plain English the man made bad mistakes.  Just because I do not share the frothing at the mouth hate you seem to have for the guy doesnt mean you can pigeon hole me into one category or the other.

I read what you wrote. I just find it extremely hard to believe you read a "sequence" of anti-Benning posts in a forum that is over 90% pro-Benning. Might want to go out and buy a lottery ticket if that actually happened.

Your post, just like this thread and several other threads like this is just an attempt to paint Benning into some victim that he clearly isn't based on how much he's praised here.

Are you saying that GMs should never trade draft picks. And if this is not what you are saying then when should teams trade draft picks

Obvious when they are good and need a rental to put them over the top and win a cup. Obviously when they are nit bottom feeders like us. I figured a self proclaimed educated man would see this? Lol

HF Boards have a small number of people who keep saying the same negative crap over and over and over ........ that entire site is a microcosm of little balls of hate and despair with seemingly little actual knowledge of the game.    I will find it interesting how they will handle an improved Canuck team let alone a team that starts winning with regularity.

Having looked in, however, at other team's HF sites - it is far from just the Canucks that seem to assemble the lonely guys from their mother's basements.   The amount of angst and woe is amazing.   These poor souls cannot seemingly handle the ups and downs of professional sports let alone the fact that sometimes even good teams lose.

I think anyone with any sense of self-esteem and actual hockey knowledge would avoid such a cesspool in terms of a regular location to discuss professional hockey (team or teams).   However, I guess there are lot of sad and pathetic lives that need to surround themselves with similar folk and if that gives their lives some meaning - I guess things like HF boards serve some function.

The flaw in your arguement is simple you say there is zero value in those trades.

1, some of those players are here

2, some of those players where place holders

3, most of those players where prospects. They where not sure things. In the Nhl most prospect bust some are hits rare ones are stars.

And your biggest flaw is your trying to make a rebuild a science.

Wait what?!

1. Only one here is Baerschit and he is one hit a way from being a write off so that doesn’t really count. The only other one is Pearson but that cost us Mccan which is his equivalent plus an extra 2nd and a 3rd. Don’t think you should even go there if you don’t want to highlight dim Jim’s incompetence, which you are?

2. Why exactly would we need place holders to do nothing for 5 years? Lol we could have nothing to do nothing for 5 years. How is this even an argument. It seems like something the Benning brigade made up and its a weak ass excuse for him.

3. Lol this one is the best. These players that have been with their team for 3 years or more that are passed their critical development period and are about to be unloaded by their teams do not count as prospects. Clendenning was the worst, he was worse than Hutton and same age and we didn’t even qualify him. We traded a real prospect for him that could have the very least netted us de Haan. Don’t get me started on so called prospects Dorsett, Sbisa, and Prust. Prospects eh? Lol seriously this golden.

so you feel it is important to create 2 distinct camps

those for and those against jb ?

that has value to you ?

The outcome of the poll does not affect anything in anyway.  To me it is a simplified poll to share your thoughts on whether JB is doing what is best for the club. There is no value to such a poll. You can pick your poison or move on.

But since you placed Value in to the post, what value would you hope to garner from this poll? What should be added to give value?

To me your post is just SNOBBY. You are a forum Snob lol

Agreed.  It's well known that cdc is pretty pro benning so the results are predictable, next comes reddit which slants more pro benning, but not as extreme as cdc and then hfboards if you don't want to read just blind homerism like here.  HFboards is where you'll find the best and most realistic takes about the team.

I've be supportive of this management so far.

He has drafted a team that can compete in the near future.

He's added some top-9 pieces to our core (Pearson, Miller, Baertschi, Leivo) via trade, all of which I'm very happy with what we gave up to get these pieces.

In hindsight, the only trade I think he's lost was the McCann trade. But at the time I supportive of acquiring a big, physical right-handed Dman. That trade turned into Pearson though, and that's not too bad.

But I do think this sort of poll should wait until training camp starts.

(177 for, 13 against)

Funny how you talk about self-esteem when half of your post consists of taking personal shots at people on the internet anonymously.

The ironing.

Where do these thoughts in your head come from? Want me to pick apart most of what you said and ask you what you'd have done assuming you put yourself properly in the place of JB and in his head as he took over a aging seasonal team rivaling other clubs with ntc's and nmc's and not much in the farm and doing your best to try and make it all work until their all gone and some deals he made, made sense at the time. Like Vey, who was lighting it up one down and may end up helping if he could make the transition but i would have given him a chance too. Guddy the same as in physical play and failed to at least be effective, LE looked like a shoe in line mate for the twins, baer has had plain bad luck, dorsett turned it up a notch then injured too. Last is Pearson and he's turned out well with Bo so far... plus Tanev and Edler going down a lot, you don't ask much do you?

I would have kept all the picks instead of this place holder bs and for sure we would be better off for it this 6th season. 100%. Benning did nothing in these 5 years through trades, not hard to do better than that.  Any other gm can for sure so that’s why we need a new one.

And this is nit even getting all the known moves that lost us assets and poor cap management where we had to put Markstrom and others on waivers.

He is is really really bad.
