This should do it..the Newfoundland Ne'er-Do-Wells Market them as kind of a rambling, gypsy cast of down-&-out'ers. No drug-testing, or curfews for this nefarious bunch. They can keep their galoshes in some place like Stony Brook, but they set out(each season) on a western pilgrimage, RV's recklessly driven by bikini clad babes, makin' buds along the way. Like Forrest Gump's long run, they'd likely be followed by an admiring caravan of loose, vulgar woman, & shady outcasts on the fringes of society. No cap-limit for this wandering, motley crew. A roster size of 33, as many would either be incarcerated, or too inebriated for frozen pond exhibitions. Picture a group of about 30 skating, carousing, traveling John Daly's, either partying like loose animals, or moaning the "Serenity Prayer" hoping to make it to next Sunday's forgiveness. They would adhere to 70's Slapshot standards, leniently officiated with questionable oversight. Granted by both Gov'ts a 'liscense to thrill' as an antidote to an overly moderated, surveilled & tech-addled society. They would attract crowds from the lowest common denominator..local denizens tired of abiding by the standards of hypocritical 'PC types'. They would either become folk heroes, or revive fruitful debate on the merits of capital punishment. Sorry..but I've grown tired over analysis over what entitled, skilled, young 20-something is to become the next overpaid multimillionaire. About 10 yrs back I proposed a variation of the above. With a few of the vet posters we simply shared a chuckle(ran with the theme) & tried to perfect the model. Folks are fine perceiving these leagues how they wish, but imho it holds a little too much sway in some people's lives.
