ForestFalcon
Must have changed up, last time I checked a couple hours back, he was a Penguin. Wonder how many teams he'll have been listed as a part of there before he's signed.

Other players can be hoped to be moved, but until we move them, we can't go ahead making with signing players that put us over the cap, assuming they will be easily moved. Further, we need to think of Pettersson's massive deal that will be coming in two years. I'd rather keep a bit of space and plan for that future cap crunch. That $8.7 million is misleading. It includes Brisebois, Sautner and Schaller's salaries, all of whom will be in Utica. Sending those guys to Utica frees up about $2.5 million. Also, they will most likely put Roussel on LTIR to start the season so the Canucks could go above the cap by $3 million when the season starts. So that's $5.5 million extra. Plus on top of that we don't know yet the plan for Eriksson. He could mutually terminate his contract or be traded with 50% retention. 50% retention would free up another $3 million. So that's $8.5 million. Add that to the $8.7 million and we are at $17 million. That's plenty of money available to sign Boeser, Motte, Leivo and add another UFA in the $3-4 million range, i.e. Ferland. We could also trade Baertschi to free up a spot for Ferland, so that's another $3.3 million off the cap. It all depends on what moves are in the cards for Benning moving forward and what he wants to do with this forward group. We have too many bodies right now if Motte and Leivo are signed and we plan to bring up MacEwen. But bringing in a guy like Ferland is a possibility and would make us even tougher up front and all around. Benn, Myers, Ferland, Miller and MacEwen. All of a sudden we just got a lot bigger and harder to play against. I hope all of those 5 guys are in the lineup opening night. 2
Elias Pettersson
Miller Petey Boeser Ferland Horvat Pearson Leivo Sutter Virtanen Motte Beagle MacEwen Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Benn Stecher I like this lineup for opening night. Lots of speed, skill and truculence. We won't be getting pushed around quite as easily as last year that's for sure. 1

The buyout window closed on 30 June. A 2nd window only opens up if one of the eligible RFAs file for arbitration.
