Shame on all of us for lapping it up like purse pets. You’re stupidy mystifies and for that you are being crucified. He could have easily ignored the request and no one would have heard about it. Bill Gates bailed out Nigeria’s $76,000,000 debt. That wasnt anonymous. So because he did that he’s looking for attention or virtue signalling as you call it. So he’s not that great of a person? It’s not about Quinn Hughes or Brock Boeser, Patrick Maroon, Carey Price, Alex Ovechkin (these are all just recent) and so on and so forth with all these other NHL athletes who have done some sort of thing where there is an opportunity for that player to have an interaction and impact a part of their life that will be a lasting memory for life after all their struggles they have gone through or will continue to deal with. Just because the media is involved and the moment is made much larger to the public eye does not mean his or their intentions are not genuine. Even when the Sedin’s tried to anonymously donate $1,000,000 to BC Children’s Charity, someone exposed them. Outside of this one interaction with a fan there are countless more these athletes do at hospitals that aren’t all captured. The Organization wanted to feature this one. As soon as he said to that kid he accepted that invitation, everyone would hear about it and there would be no hiding Quinn Hughes

Yes, they are hyper compete guys, who will do their best on and off the ice to win. But they are really good people too, as most hockey players tend to be.
kloubek
Not sure why some are trying to spin this in a negative light. He wasn't forced to do it. So what if it is positive publicity? He just made this kid's adolescence.
