PP Units for 2019-2020

The past couple years our PP has been pretty easy to put together, but now we have a lot of options for not only our top PP unit but our secondary one as well..

Personally I could see something like this:

PP1: Pettersson, Boeser, Horvat, Hughes, Myers

PP2: Ferland, Miller, Baerstchi, Edler, Stecher??

This leaves a few options on the roster like:

Pearson, Virtanen, Leivo, Sutter, Motte, Goldy

What do you think they are going to be on opening night?

Going to be in the minority here but I rather Horvat on PP2 and have Baertschi (or Goldobin, if he finds his way into the lineup) in that corner spot instead.

I think that spot requires a more skill/play-maker type player.

PP 1:

Miller - Horvat - Petey

Boeser - Hughes

I like the idea of stacking the top unit. (Miller in front of the net, Horvat down low, Boeser/Petey on the half wall, and Hughes at the point)

PP 2:

Ferland - Gaudette - Baer/Pearson/Leivo/Goldy/Virtanen

Myers - Edler

Insert PP unit joke here:

Miller - Petey - Boeser

Hughes - Myers

Ferland - BoHo - Jake

Edler - Goldy (Give him a shot)

I'd rather split up Miller and Ferland, as I think they work very similarly on the PP (though Miller is more of a playmaker, to be fair).

PP1: EP, Boeser, Miller, Hughes, Myers (Hughes plays as a rover more than a defenseman)

PP2: Horvat, Baertschi, Ferland, Goldy/Pearson, Edler

The 1-3-1 set looks very good for two units

PP1

               Horvat

Boeser - Ferland - Pettersson

              Hughes

PP2

               Miller

Leivo - Pearson - Baertschi

              Myers

PP1

Ferland-Horvat-Boeser

Pettersson-Hughes

PP2

Pearson-Miller-Virtanen

Edler-Myers

PP1 you got two hot hands in EP and BB, QH quarterbacking it and two guys wreaking havoc in front and on the lower boards in Ferland and Bo this would be insane to defend.

PP2 Myers runs QB and you park JV in front let Miller and Pearson work the half walls possibly swap Eddie out for Sven

or just to **** with other teams and bang em up bad

PP1

Baertschi-Horvat-Boeser

Pettersson-Hughes

PP2- destroy you line lol

Ferland-Miller-Virtanen

Roussel-Myers

PP2 just goes out for the last 30-50 seconds to hit and mangle everything on the ice not with an orca on its sweater lol.

That's pretty much how I see it.  Boeser isn't gonna play the point when he's perfect on his off wing with the one timer.  Goldobin may not be in the lineup on a regular basis though so I'd slot Pearson there instead.  As for Baertschi he probably won't even be on the team so not sure why he would even be a consideration on the PP.

Agreed, and I like the idea of having another D to back up Hughes while he goes to work. I also like having Edler on the second powerplay unit because it also looks like a legit option for producing offense. Won't have to run guys ragged playing powerplay because we'll have to units that should be able to produce.

Having options will allow Green and co to manage ice time better, Hughes may very well struggle with playing such an extensive schedule for the first time and having options on the powerplay will help offset any pressure on him to produce there.
