well the worlds population has never been healthier or lived longer.... not defending the dirty stuff at all but without phrama companies we'd be &^@#ed.

This is not true.

The bible wrote this at Ps 90:10 - The span of our life is 70 years,Or 80 if one is especially strong. But they are filled with trouble and sorrow;

As has education, job safety, access to food/clean water, technology, better health care/medical advancement (beyond pharmaceutical) etc, etc. Let's not give them to much credit for what may or may not be their part in that. If anything there's a lot of evidence they're not in fact helping it (see: thread).

IMO big pharma does more harm than good (unless of course you're a share holder).

See above @Jimmy McGill

Vaccines for small pox, polio, cholera etc. have saved countless people.

Death toll from small pox is estimated between 300-500 million.

Penicillin has saved between 100-200 million people.

Do you think half of Europe’s population would have died from plague if they had antibiotics?

I don’t think you would want surgery without anesthesia, most soldiers during the civil war died as a result of disease or improper wound care.

Antiviral drugs, immunotherapy etc. have prolonged people’s lives.

Most of that happened last century, arguably before 'big pharma' as we know it today, existed. And again I'm not saying they haven't done ANY good, you're talking to a cancer survivor. But the last 40+ years has been far more about profits than helping people.
