Since probably the 80's each Canuck captain has rubbed shoulders with the preceding captain.  Linden played alongside Smyl, Naslund under Linden's tutelage, Henrik learning from both Trevor and Markus, and now Bo who spent years under Henrik's wing.

Lets continue the long lineage of our great captains influencing the next.  Its only fitting for Henrik to pass it to Bo.

I am in the camp that thinks they may be waiting for Pettersson to take the reigns as leader in the room. If Bo doesn;t get it this year I am seriously worried he wont get it at all.

I don’t want another captain that gets slapped around and needs protection no thank you :sadno:

The quote is " I'd be ready to "

Meaning some one asked him if he wanted to or was ready to be captain. He asked a question that was asked of him, and answered it well. Furthest thing from disgusting.

Agreed.  This is another case where Sportsnet and/or the CP Canadian Press author of the article (is that Frank Seravelli) are putting a slightly misleading headline "Bo Horvat says he’s ready to be Captain Canuck in Vancouver" on the article.  I hate it when whoever writes the headline takes what someone says out of context and puts a slightly different spin on it.  If you just saw the headline by itself, you might be led to believe that Bo himself was lobbying for the Captaincy.  But when you see his actual words in response to the question from the press about it, it is clear that he is not saying that the job should be his.

This is the like the fourth time he's talked about the captaincy in the last two years. First his dad came out saying he would be a great captain in Vancouver and here is another comment from Bo himself.

Personally I find this distasteful and extremely gross. If you are meant to be captain you shouldn't have to publically lobby for it. It is an honour given and him even expecting his name in the conversation bugs me.

I think he should stop talking on the matter. Let things play out. Does this bother anyone else?

No, not at all. It also appears that, once again, he was asked about it and gave an honest answer. That is captain material right there.

Why does the most skilled player needs to be the captain?

Avalanche  - Landeskog

Bruins - Chara

Blackhawks - Toews

Flames - Giordano

Wild - Koivu

Devils - Greene

Blues - Pietrangelo

Jets - Wheeler

Exactly.  Best leader as part of your core should be captain.  You need your captain to lead by example and when the situation warrants it, stand up and motivate the team.  That would be Horvat.

I find your lingo extremely gross.

What is he supposed to do, not answer the question? "It bugs you?" Are you twelve?
