Popular Post coastal.view
i will not enumerate all the things accomplished by the nucks gm since last season ended many considered the brock signing to be the final piece before a complete assessment could be made i think that contract is as consistently good as all the other things jb did this past summer drafting, trading, ufa signings, other contract matters (i'm sure many will nitpick -- i was never expecting perfection) a top tier off season performance by gm jb in my books good job!! Coconuts
Nah, this is CDC. But yeah, I think management did a pretty good job this offseason. 1 2

Popular Post goalie13
It would have been a perfect summer if he had managed to find some sucker to take on LE and his contract. 2 4 3
Popular Post -AJ-
I like it so far, but I'm withholding judgement until we see how his acquisitions turn out. 2 1

HerrDrFunk
If Miller works out, then JB knocked it out of the park. If he doesn't, that's a massive mark against him. 3

But it's also the beginning of preseason. I'm a pro-Benning guy but we haven't even gotten to game 1 of 82 yet. All I'm preaching is patience until we see how things pan out. Even if things look promising thus far.
Popular Post Warhippy
I'd say it sure looks good. But what is really amazing is what happens in 2 and 3 seasons respectively. In the next few seasons we have a fair amount of dead weight leaving the team. at a time when our young kids will need those new contracts. Whether by design or luck Benning has maneuvered this team fantastically for the future with this being about the only tight year we have cap wise https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canucks 3
Popular Post oldnews
I won't argue with that. I think the Edler deal, to start, was an excellent deal, particularly the two year term. Not everyone liked (to put it mildly) the JT Miller deal, but I really like the player, the fit and am comfortable with the price. You simply can't get young guys entering their prime, signed to those terms without giving up reasonable asset value. The Myers, Benn, and Ferland signings, imo were all excellent values, excellent fits and good risks - all of them well below projected UFA market values. Very opportune, timely signings by the organization. Hard not to like the Motte, Leivo and Goldobin deals - all very reasonable/affordable depth deals. The draft - hard not to be thrilled with Podkolzin and Hoglander. And an excellent bridge deal for Boeser. I couldn't care less how the eastern Leaf fluffer media represent that body of work - as a fan of this team I got pretty much everything - and exactly - what I wanted. If it doesn't work out, I have no complaints (and no grounds to). Having said that - success is measured after the puck drops. At the same time, the time to take an honest position is when it happens - before the results - the rest is nothing but hindsighting. Yes, would have been nice to move Eriksson, just from a cap space standpoint, but he has overhauled this team and we should be highly competitive this year.

Popular Post #Canucks
I think Jim has made mistakes. I think Jim knows those mistakes. I think Jim has grown as a GM because of those mistakes. I think JB is growing into one of the better managers in the league. His scouting just elevates him to another level other GM’s will never get to. 3
Standing_Tall#37
I think it was a great offseason. Once we’re Louis and Edler Free, we’ll be a force.

Trust me, I follow various forums for my other favourite sports teams, and CDC is overwhelmingly more positive than everyone else. Even HF Canucks boards are tame compared to most other sports boards. That being said, I think the same standard should be held for every offseason. Wait until we judge. If this was a seemingly bad offseason for JB most on here would be telling people off saying we gotta wait till we judge. The same should be applied in this case, where the acquisitions by JB seem positive. Let's see how things play out. Popular Post bloodycanuckleheads
Don't forget... Everyone here thought 2018 was a smashing success - until it wasn't. And everyone here thought the 2017 signings were a smashing success - until they weren't. And 2016, well let's not even mention 2016... 1 1
