HKSR
Sounds like something happening in his personal life that is making him think about his future. Never liked the guy as a player, but if this is family related, good on him to put family ahead of hockey. Man, I feel bad for the Jets fans right now. They waited all those years to get their franchise back... all those high expectations, and it culminates in this terrible off season with all kinds of different issues. I know the weather can be bad in Winnipeg... but wow... Winter is truly coming for them...
Xbox
The timing of this decision and the amount of money he's scheduled to make this year (more than his AAV) make me think something really bad is happening in his personal life. Hope whatever it is gets resolved. 1
Tortorella's Rant
Byfuglien contemplating retirement ensures the local burger shack will be employed overtime.
Tre Mac
If he does retire that means Winnipeg will be without their entire right side D from last year.

JM_
Buff probably couldn't get into proper shape over the summer, you have to think a guy that big can't have the joints in his lower body last much longer than 34. It reminds me a bit of Luongo's thought process of whether or not he could do all the rehab and exercise needed just to get to camp, let alone play a season. Buff's probably having to decide between playing two more years or having early hip replacements. MattJVD
I hope the big guy is doing alright. If he steps down, I don't think the Jets make the playoffs.

Man, as someone who's been quietly cheering for Winnipeg as a secondary team, this is pretty shocking to see how quickly the wheels came off over the summer.
captainhorvat
This is what happens when you have to play and live in Winnipeg. It wont be long before Connor McDavid does the same. Its very sad...
-AJ-
He's still pretty good, so it would be a bit of a shame, honestly. Winnipeg would be doing pretty rough on defense though this year then.
Popular Post Trebreh
Loui Eriksson is a helluva defenceman if they're looking for a replacement. 1 8
Podzilla
Have a friend in Winnipeg who knows some of the players. Said there was some funny business going on with players wives and stuff all last season, which explains their poor season and all the drama between players, etc. Obviously just a rumour but kinda makes sense.

TheRick
I would say we should offer them Chris Tanev but his brother Brandon Tanev plays for Pittsburgh now so I don't think Chris will want to go to Winnipeg.
