Auston Matthews being investigated for disorderly conduct in Scottsdale

Seems like the lady security guard was being reasonable.  She just wanted him to own it and apologize.

Police would not have been involved if the Matthews would have owned it.

Serves them right. Only them selves to  blame for this mess.

Could have been dealt with an I'm sorry it won't happen again.

Lol no way they trade a super star like him.

All the eastern media is trying to down play it and cover for him but good luck with that.

It's in USA today and on TMZ. Which means all segments of society is hearing about this not just hockey fans.

All he had to do was say sorry instead of accusing the security lady of lieing.

They could move him and get a great return, finally fixing the abomination they call a defense.  It made sense before the incident for purely hockey reasons.

Seems like the lady security guard was being more than reasonable.  .

I watched entire 30min police interview with her. It's in YouTube.

She just wanted him to own it and apologize.

Instead she was accused of being a liar even by Austons dad. So they sent him the video to prove she wasn't a liar. Called the police a few days after the incident with support if building Mgmt.

Police would not have been involved if the Matthews would have owned it.

strangely, that report doesn’t seem to appear on TSN anymore, where I first read it.

Says right in the first sentence.

AMs a dumb ass who needs to stand up like a man and correct this, but that characterization was a bit much. Makes sense TSN removed it.

It occurs to me that this one might actually not just go away. There's a credible person making the complaint. There's video. There's AM's hiding it from the Leafs management. There's other witnesses too.

In most things like this there isn't this much to go on. This might be a case the AZ prosecutors take to the limit simply because they can.

Later, Dozithee said: “I spoke to one of the board members who was walking his dog and he told me if you decide to press charges, we will support you because this resident has been an issue for us anyways.”

I presume booze was involved. Right out of the gate a professional athlete of any sport that is in the public eye or private should be well educated on what is and isn't appropriate behaviour. Whether you are a professional or not. There's no excuse not to know and understand this.

An athlete can into the next level of entitlement which is a higher level of self righteous non-accountable behavior. I say next level because in most cases these athletes have always been in the "best player" category. The mentality is nurtured from early childhood. Many parents understand and keep a check on things but not all environments keep things in check. Complacency sets in.

Past reading the story i know nothing of the incident. I do know that its yet another incident that could have been avoided if the overindulgence of alcohol and ego  weren't in the mix.

It's an issue when kids develop a sense of entitlement and the parents support that rather than address it.  I don't feel it helps children and is more a disservice to them as it doesn't prepare them for real world stuff...teach them to be accountable.

If your kid can do no wrong in your eyes it's a tall order.  Kids will do wrong so plan for that and be proactive. Teach them a sense of responsibility early on.

Well said.

You see hockey parents early on who are out of touch.  Driven.  Their kids sometimes become a bit of an asset as well as their offspring.

My son had a hockey coach who was HORRIBLE early on.  His kid was awesome...scored a hat trick in the first one game.  Dad stood over all the kids on the bench, yelling overhead and pointing as his son skated off on a shift change.  He'd missed an open net..."YOU COULD HAVE HAD ANOTHER ONE".  Oh well?  How about focus on the positive things he did do out there?  Nope.  I think they were 10 years old.

Really sad.  Some kids aren't given the tools they really do need to navigate this life.

I'm curious why Matthew's father was even called by condo management.  Auston is 23 years old and making millions.  He's a friggin' adult!  He should be treated like one, and not a child.  Do he parents bear some of the responsibility for enabling their son to be such a creep?

This person probably uses CDC so shoutout to you good sir.

Leafs GM found out the same way we all did and wasn't pleased about that.

Will Auston pout that he's not the captain?  Will Babcock need to fly to Arizona to meet with Auston's daddy - again?
