an idea (proposal)

Recommended Posts

hey guys just had an idea

Virtanen + 4th for Sissons

or

Sutter+Virtanen for Sissons+3rd

They get younger and a pick or a replacement for 3C and a forward for cheap with middle potential

We get a little more playoff experience. Sissons can play RW and is better suited to a 3rd line role then Virtanen. Sissons is a local boy and is still fairly cheap.

Nashville just signed him to a 7 year deal.  Friedman in his 31 thoughts of a few months ago writes that Nashville absolutely adores Sissons.

Nashville's window is wide open - Virtanen has yet to establish himself while Sissons is a great shutdown player and brings so much versatility.  They moved Fiala (same draft as Virtanen) because he has yet to find consistency and they didn't want to wait.

Moving Sissons for Virtanen is a step back and doesn't help their window.

Sutter is redundant as they already have Bonino.  Sissons and Jarnkrok can also play shutdown C.  Also Nashville defends by pushing for offence.  They want to maintain possession in the o-zone - that's not really Sutter's game.

He is kind of a weird player to have a 7 year deal.  I imagine they did so for a reason.

Re-signing Sissons was one of Poile's top priority of the off-season.  Poile just gave an interview talking about the importance of two-way players.  Sissons can impact the game at both ends of the ice - very strong defensively and can score.  He notably had a hattrick in the playoffs filling in for injured Johansen at C1.

He is on their 4th line with Bonino-Watson.  He's mostly used in a defensive role but he can move to a scoring line.  Plays the PK but can also play the PP if needed.  Very versatile player.

Yes I’d do this deal for sure.   NSH wouldn’t though.  Seriously anyone who knows this players would says no thanks for Sutter and JV or just JV and a pick.   He’s the new Silverberg - a valuable utility guy that can help any team.  At this point I really don’t think JV would get us much in a trade .... he’s got to do better or he’s going to end up with no takers his next contract.

Scissors is a young, hard working, and effective 3rd line Center that is signed at an excellent long term cap hit.    Nashville won’t be giving him up so easily.......especially for that package.
