Travis Green said after practice today:

Tyler Motte will be out at least 4 weeks.

Micheal Ferland is still in concussion protocol.

Quinn Hughes is day-to-day.

I’m not a doctor but from watching the video and this update, it looks like Quinn has a minor foot or ankle sprain. Hopefully he can be ready by tomorrow.

They did a detailed analysis on Sportsnet. He actually kicked himself in his knee as he fell. Caught a rut or something and did the damage while falling.

The good news is, this should be fairly fast recovery. Hopefully tomorrow or Thursday I would think at the latest.

Just tried to find the replay and can't, but it was a good zoom from different angle and showed that he actually kicked himself on the way down.

thats actually very good news, it won't be anything like a tear or sprain just a bruise.

Frustrated that I can't find it. Was really good analysis. They had a zoom in, slow motion from another angle and clearly showed that as he got off balance, his foot came up and he actually kicked himself. Was really weird and really hard to see on the main replay.

maybe the team asked SN to take it down so weasels like Marchand don't know where to hack Hughes

Told you it was the knee.

It is not "bruised" either unless a twist bruised it somehow, NOT, it is either sprained or a small tear.

If he was on the ice today, ahead of the main group, which has been reported, then its not a sprain or a tear. They wouldn't let him out there with either.

Really? At first it is an ankle, then a bruised knee. Take a look at when he just simply falls, before when his ankle does twist, look at his knee to ankle. This can be a ligament tear and the simplest way to determine just how pain he can endure is to skate. It would not be the first time a surgery was put off in the hopes of rehab instead and then the surgery happens anyway.

If he did get one of little ligaments detached, the pain is a lot less but the stability of the knee is then measured, but the little ligament can wait if the knee gets strong enough.

Has Hughes ever had a knee injury before? Or missed time for a "lower body injury"?

Ankle, knee, ankle what is to believe?

There's another angle. His ankle went out because of contact from his foot into his knee. He's looking pretty good out there in pregame skate. If there was anything torn, he wouldn't be on the ice for another couple of weeks.

See the Canucks Game Day, page 9, he's on the ice looking okay.

The replay that I saw, and now can't find again, was more of a zoomed in reverse angle, its really hard to see on the regular replay that's out there. It shows him making contact with the side of his knee.

Well, probably not what you're conjecturing based on this:

nice. Clearly they were just being super cautious. Which is the right move.

There will be so much disappointment tho with Edler of PP1.

Reports on 1040 are that Roussel is seeing his surgeon next week and is expected he may get the go ahead to start practicing with the guys.  We could have another weapon in the arsenal in the near future!  They are theorizing that we are looking at the beginning of Dec rather than the end of Dec.

Great news! Wouldn't be surprised if they loan him to Utica for a conditioning stint, be a while since he's had game action.

But, man, is it nice to have depth. 3 regular forwards out injured right now and we still have NHL capable players in the AHL or being scratched.

If he is back on the ice with the team next week (he has been skating on his own for quite a while), that is 2-3 weeks of getting up to speed before the beginning of December.

One good thing about him is that he is the kind of player you can start in limited minutes on the 4th line and them work him up in minutes as he gets into game shape.

Some roster decisions to be made in the near future.  Gaudette and Baertschi have a pretty limited amount of time to make a mark, and even Eriksson is probably in danger of being demoted... his ice time has been shrinking and he isn't even killing penalties anymore.
