[Report] John Tavares named Maple Leafs captain

Matthews shouldn't even be in the conversation imo. I'd give it to Marner before Matthews. But really it should either go to Reilly or JT. The thing with Reilly is that he stayed there during tough years and stuck with the team. I think he might be the longest serving Leaf (feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken). JT just came in as a UFA but he's a leader no doubt about it. I have no issues with it.

Oh, and still hate the Leafs and hope they crash and burn.

Difference is JT is actually a good hockey player.  The don't want Reilly to have to answer questions regarding his atrocious play in his own end,

JT is the only real option.

I'm surprised they rewarded Matthews with a letter after the stunt he pulled in Arizona. I suspected TOR and Friends (TSN, SN, etc) would sweep that embarrassing drama under the rug. Good for Tavares, he should've always been the choice for captain really.
