Fanuck
Not sure if this kid is a perennial 40g/75pt scorer, but I guess the Hawks are.
D-Money
Good on the Hawks for getting this done early. The market was already set, so why not? Saad is up in 2 years, and then Shaw, De Haan, and Maata at the same time as Debrincat, so Chicago will have a lot of money freed up at that point.

Then you've locked yourself into a position, like BB, where you have to give a qualifying offer of at least the value (or a % higher I actually think) of the last year of the contract. So there is somewhat of a risk there. If he's not a 40g/75pt player at the end of three years you have to pay him like he is regardless. That's the risk. Him and Strome had a rotation of Kahun, Perlini, and Cagguila mostly playing with them. This year it looks like its gonna be Shaw on that line. Occasionally Kane gets time with the Strome line 5 on 5, but usually it's only when the Hawks are in full out desperation mode (in which Kane plays wing on every line).

He's built like a block, and goes to the hard areas. Hate the Hawks, but this kid earned his dough.

Sure but can't say Debrincat would've been the "Gudbranson pick". We could play the hindsight game in many ways.

Jeez, pessimist much? 2 season, 59 and 69 goals each. No indication they aren’t legit. What’s the alternative locked them for 8 years at 7/8+ plus? Much bigger risk there id rather have the smaller cap hit for three years and bigger qualifier than the opposite. . They also have a chance to negotiate a long term deal during their last year of contract and that won’t even be a factor They will have more leverage but still, not to make a huge difference. And if they are not worth it, maybe it’s better just to let them walk or trade them to someone who will take a chance on them and has more caps space. IBatch
Good signing, this kid is pretty good - and last year did this on the second line with PP minutes. If he was on our team there would be a couple hundred pages of glowing remarks about him.
