Always knew she was a bad apple back when she was the leader of the BC Teachers' Federation. She was a cut-throat leader who would not hesitate to throw people overboard if you didn't do things 'her' way. Both surprised and not surprised she survived this long in the political game. Looks like her incessant need for power finally caught up to her.

Many more slimebags in government still. She is one of many. JMO.

MLA Jinny Sims has resigned from cabinet following the appointment of a special prosecutor, B.C.'s premier announced Friday.

Sims is the subject of an RCMP investigation and has left her post as the minister of citizens' services, according to a statement from Premier John Horgan.

"I accepted her resignation as appropriate under the circumstances. We take any such investigation very seriously," Horgan said.

"While we await the conclusion of the matter, I have asked Minister Selina Robinson to temporarily assume responsibility as minister of citizens' services."

In a written statement, Sims said she does not have any details against the allegations against her, "but there was no credibility to previous public allegations. I am confident that my name will be cleared but do not want to distract from the important work of government in the meantime."

Sims was first elected as MLA for Surrey-Panorama in the 2017 provincial election.

'British Columbians should be appalled'

The subject of the probe has yet to be confirmed, and the attorney general's office referred all questions to the B.C. Prosecution Service.

But Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson wrote in a statement that "British Columbians should be appalled" by the news.

"The fault lies at the feet of John Horgan and he needs to immediately explain to British Columbians why a special prosecutor has been appointed to investigate an NDP minister," Wilkinson said.

"The BC Liberals have raised countless questions for months about Jinny Sims' conduct in government and in her community. This ranges from breaking FOI rules as the minister responsible, to her decision to write letters of immigration support for people on terrorist watch lists.

Earlier this year, the B.C. Liberals requested a police investigation into a series of allegations made by a former constituency assistant in Sims' office.

Kate Gillie — who was fired after working for Sims for six weeks — claimed the minister had inappropriately mixed her constituency and ministerial duties in a number of ways. That includes allegations that Sims  wrote visa reference letters for foreign nationals on a security watch list.

This spring, B.C. Liberal MLA Mike de Jong alleged in question period that Sims wrote the letters "in exchange for money."

Sims has denied money was ever discussed or that the individuals donated to her campaign. Sources told CBC News that Sims didn't see the letter before it was sent and an auto signature was used, but that she was making sure the error would not be repeated.

Every single politician is sub human scum. Always have been always will be. It takes a special kind of being to want to be a politician. All sold their soul.

What gets me every time is when they try to care about other peoples problems while lining their pockets full of money and power..

Just bunch of pawns funded by the establishment..

Essentially politicians  would never survive in the real world because they have no tangible skills and most thinking people could see through their bs.

yet we elect them to lead us.  Speaks volumes to our collective desire/need to have our hands held through life.

Thank for posting @Dazzle

What’s that biblical story about saving a city if Lot can find just five good people?  Politics reminds me of that.  Can we find just five good and honest ones?

It's not about good, it's about apathetic. People that aren't excited by the forbidden apple, nor are they excited by the virtue of "not taking it".

Find the people who legitimately don't give a ***t.

I should run. I don't want to be in government, I don't want to be a politician. But I really don't want anybody else to be in power either, because they have their little pet projects, lies and deceit.

If elected, I promise to do nothing. No scandals, no tomfoolery. I'll literally go and play freecell on my phone and leave you people to live your lives in peace and quiet away from pointless interference of me telling you how best to live your life.

Oh and I'll kill off ICBC. Buncha crooks.

When did I cry about it? I posted that jokingly by the way. I know they are all crooked that's why I didn't bother voting.

Yeah, treat it like Jury duty. There's be someone who takes it super seriously, and everybody else will be like "he's guilty can we just go home".

All of government, all levels, is nothing more than mildly competing money laundering mafias which recruit and coalesce like minded psychopaths who would play their games over a single penny, were it the only thing in the public coffers. All of them are disgusting, and I am still waiting on the party that promises to give me my money back and scale back the despotic rot they all claim are public services and 'rule of law'.  Maxime Bernier is just too new to know, and he reminds me of giant government 'libertarians' from the US.  He has some interesting rhetoric, but why is he so dogged in pursuing public positions of power?

My Dad used to say that politicians are a notch lower than child molesters,it seems that every time you turn around some politician that is supposed to have high moral standards is getting caught doing not just stupid things but very bad criminal things.

Throwing some of these people in prison for long periods might stop or at least slow down the corrupt behaviors, because they assume they will just not have to pay the consequences of their actions and being in a position given to them by trusting people heightens the betrayal.

Just proves that most wealthy people are just so much less honorable than just your regular hard working citizens.
