And at the same time, Brown saved his own career by putting Hughes on the 1st pp and switching up Brock and Petey's sides (oh, and adding a big of a different look here and there). PP and PK both top 5 in the league. I think we should go around digging up old topics to revisit now that the team is rolling and looking like a possible contender.

Switching up EP and Boeser seems to open up the seams for cross ice pass between EP and Boeser. Although it takes away the one timer, both guys have a great wrist/snap shot so that was a good decision. It gives the PP a different look to throw the opponents off a bit. But at the end of the day, without Hughes, they wouldn't be able to even set up the PP formations. The zone entry is way easier with Hughes compared to Edler. With Edler, as good a player he is, makes you cringe on zone entry during PP. We all know the drop pass is coming with 100% certainty. With Hughes, he can do it himself or he can drop it off, not easy to read. Love this Hughes kid. Never had a defenceman like this in the history of the franchise.

One thing I might have to do, is go dust some old threads off and post some retractions (will give it a while yet but it’s sure looking that way so far)....had some doubts a player that size would be able to translate this well in that position - in this respect maybe his locker nickname “Huggy” (because as BB says - he’s just so darn cute you want to hug him) is giving the opposition the same feeling when they see him out there (ha ha bad joke), but they have to catch him first and he’s as slippery as they come. Love watching him start one way and as soon as the guy on him bites, he turns around mid-stride and squeeks by them. EP can do that too, but even he can’t do it as well. Hughes skating and puckhandling is exceptional. How old is he again? That part has me giddy about our future. Makar looks to be his biggest competition this year, last year he beat him out for the accolades in College...if he keeps this PP wizardry up don’t the he will beat him out for the Calder. Heck he might even get some Norris votes too.

LowerMainLander18
Too early to fire Brown. Team just recently added another option to their toolbox, EP and BB switching over to their strong side. PP needs to be more fluid. Players move around, opening spaces and etc.. If they learn when to switch to their strong side and weak side depending on different situations, our PP will look a lot better. I think time could fix that. Experience can't be earned without failure. (Not saying we should fail in games, practice times count, too) Let's see how things go when we get Huggy back. snucks
Some of the players know whats wrong. In the Chicago game Boeser was skating miles because he knows what is wrong. So does Pettersen.
Hairy Kneel
Zone entry. Huggy or EP can carry it in. They need to practice that. Even the opposition was fooled waiting for the drop pass. Dirty dangling entries are my fav.
