Master Mind
We all knew this was coming, otherwise no reason to retire. Glad Lu will still be involved in the game.

SabreFan1
The Canucks didn't treat him as good as the Panthers did. Just like a salty ex-gf/bf, CDC will now cry a salty river of tears because an attempt at cheating the system came back to bite the Canucks in the butt. 2

Nucker 67
Advisor to Tallon? Or is he just the guy who brings the pizza in on Fridays? 1
Popular Post Alflives
Should the league look into cap circumvention here? Luongo retires, while injured and still owed 3 million dollars. Now the Panthers hire him to a pseudo management role, and will likely pay him 3 million dollars. Hmmmmm. 3 1

We'll complain because it was decided retroactively that the system was cheated. 1

They're not going to pay an advisor anywhere near that kind of scratch. It's a way to show prospective future players that the club is loyal to players who are loyal to the club.

There were a lot of people suggesting Lou had a gentleman's agreement with FLA to retire, and they would hire him on in management to pay him the money owed in a roundabout (cap circumventing) way. No way should the league allow this. 1

That's Hall of Famer Gary Bettman's fault, not Luongo. Luongo just took the money and ran like anyone else would have. 2

Management salaries don't need to be public, so why not use this as a way to pay Lou the 3 million he's owed? I think it would be incumbent on the league to see what Lou is being paid to make sure this is not cap circumvention.

"To conclude this investigation, Troy Stecher has been suspended for 4 playoff games, and the Vancouver Canucks must pay Luongo's front-office salary (it will also be added to their cap hit)." - The NHL. 14
