Lines in morning skate:

Pearson-Pettersson-Boeser

Miller-Horvat-MacEwen
Leivo-Gaudette-Virtanen
Schaller-Beagle-Graovac

Baertschi, Eriksson, Roussel

Edler-Stecher
Hughes-Tanev
Benn-Myers

Fantenberg

Pearson on the first line and Edler/Stecher as a first pair of D....and people wonder why the team is average at best.....

Green loading up the lines with size. Well done.

Seeing eriksson and baertschi sitting is good as they’re both perimeter players who’ve been coasting. No need for that.

Has Pearson earned a spot with Pettersson and Boeser?  I guess that remains to be seen.

Im sure Greener will switch things up if it goes south quickly. Earned or not, Pearson gets a look, might as well give it a try?

Interesting change in the defense pairings.

fwiw Baertschi leads the team in high danger scoring chances for.  Small sample size but he hasn't been playing on the perimeter.  His heat map shows that all his shots come from the scoring areas around the net.  Hasn't been effective though and he's not a fit with how the Canucks want to play.  Just hope they can trade him.  The sooner the better - they  need the cap space to avoid a bonus overage and at 50% retained it is better cap wise than a buyout.

The Canucks play a team that has had a worse last five games than themselves.

Both teams are desperate to break their slides.

Expectations on Nashville were much higher than Vancouver.

Nashville and Vancouver are fighting for a wild card spot right now.

Nashville is 3 points behind the Nucks with two games in hand.

Home ice advantage.

The Babcock firing might have a positive impact for Nashville.

Markstrom is working through stuff.

Preds in a closer game.

Hughes/Tanev is the first pair don’t be mistaken.

Its all about balance. Myers has not been playing well he needs to be dropped to the bottom pair till he plays better.

If Stecher is anywhere higher than 7th D on the depth chart it is one reason why this team will struggle to make the playoffs. They need all 6 to play quality and quantity minutes and Stecher cannot do that on a consistent basis

Yeah I just go with the eye test, he had a terrible backcheck and it led to a goal last game.  Would not be surprised if Baertschi played his last game a a Canuck.  Sorry no heat maps to back that up.

I wonder if he’s been paired with Benn to bring out more aggression in his play. That pairing could make some Predators ice time fairly short if given the opportunity.

Fair enough, mll. He’s looked disengaged to me, and, as you say, he’s not fitting with the style of play the Canucks are working towards. Maybe an eastern team will take him.
