EDM/Habs Blockbuster!(proposal)

Recommended Posts

Except for 1 team, I generally cheer for Cdn squads vs their US counterparts.  Edm has to start aggressively trying to win/compete hard now; whereas Mtl should blow it up, like the Coil, Fleas(3, 4 yrs back) & more recently, Sens, have done. Exciting prospects(extra picks) is one way to keep fans interested. Bergevin's gambles/contracts are now blowing up in his face. Make these kinda' deals(below), & PUNT the guy back to some privileged US market.

HABS: Weber(retain 1 mill x forever), Max Domi, Armia      Cap hit: about 12.5 million

EDM: Ryan Hannibal-Hopkins, Larsson, Gagner, Evan Bouchard    cap: 13.2 million

2020 2nd, 2021 2nd(change to 1st, if RNH walks to UFA status)

Mtl can turn this into 3 1st's & 2 2nds, if they flip the two good players acquired. It's time for them to bite the bullet, & go all-in on a proper rebuild. Also this yr's roster will sink into bottom-5 range, for the ballyhooed 2020 draft in their barn.

Coilers would be somewhat terrifying, adding this vet D & depth-scoring. Imagine their PP?!

Neal - McDavid - Drai

Klefbomber - Weber    ..that would be ugly

That  is brutal for Montreal.

They're speeding down Brutal Hwy, as we speak. Blow it up. Start over.

& as I told you last season, next should be Price to Cowtown.

These two contracts are SILLY on a roster that requires gutting, & deeeep down, I trust you know that!

They’ve run into injuries.  But leading up to the injury to Drouin they were 10th in the league.  They also put up 96 points last year.  They have a hole on the left D that needs to be filled.  They have time to pull out of this nosedive.

You want to trade away 2/3rds of their 2nd line. One of whom is 26 and the other is 24.  Not to mention a 1D who is 2nd in scoring on the team.

in return they get a soft, INJURED RNH as the best player they get back.  They also get an injury prone D that has no offence , a cap dump, a potentially good prospect and a selection of picks that may never make the show.

IF Montreal is moving players out. Domi won’t be one of them. He’s the kind of player you build around.  They likely don’t move Armia either given his closeness to Kotkaniemi. He’s big, cheap, and effective.

Also, they’d  get a much better return for Weber in a separate deal. Especially if they’re retaining on him.

In summary. Your deal destroys the team and minimizes returns. It also sets back any rebuild by dumping Domi.

It's a fair analysis. I'll sit back now with popcorn, for interested what they do leading up to TDL.

Even if it is.  Your proposal is brutal on Montreal’s end

The main pieces are what's important here. It's necc for them to move on from Price & Weber. Build for the future.

Also send Bergevin to Palookaville, asap. Get that bad attire outa' that stylish town.

So you want to blow it up by sending out 2 top 6 forwards who are 26 and 24 and bring in a bunch of crap just to get rid of an older top pairing D who is in the Norris conversation this year?  Yeah. That’s not the way to rebuild

Domi is tough as nails and loved being a Hab

Weber is their captain, plays in all situations and is, again, tough as nails.
Armia is huge and plays a 200 ft game.  All your proposal does is makes the Habs a much easier team to play against.
