I'll give mine assuming a specific season for each player (I also ignore left/right side defense positions):

Ok.  I will play.

 

First of Merry Christmas to all you die hard (another x-mas reference ha ha) Canucks fans on this site.  I love every one of you (ok maybe that's the Bailey's in the coffee).  Special shout out to Spook, Deb and Wendel Clark fan ( ok it's actually a Probert avatar but I picked a guy closer to the range of enforcer in his 190lb weight class).  You guys make this site better in different ways.

 

For the OP - well let's just say each of these players are in their prime for what they did while here in the past decade.  And I have them for their actual position(s).   If they play the wing and centre then have them for what side they would play.   EPs a left winger for example. Some guys can play both wings too.

When players age is factored into production, Ep40, Horvat, Boeser, Hughes and others are ahead of the top two lines on the 2011 teams at the same age.  

 

 

We are comparing players that were at their peak or declining vs players who haven't even touched their potential in Ep40 and Hughes.  

 

 

Horvats numbers are better than Hanks and Keslers at the same age.  What Horvat doesn't have yet is the secondary support and with some regular wingers he could reach the same level of production that Kesler hit with 70 plus points.  

 

Ep40 is light years ahead of the twins at the same age.  Not even close.  Bure level production while being a complete player and a 1st line centerman in the NHL at just barely 21 years old.  

 

Same for Hughes.  No one other player in club history has come close to what he has done at the same age.  Tallon maybe.

Vrbata doesn't deserve to be there.  Such a selfish player.  

 

I put Horvat ahead of Kesler because Horvat works better with his linemates. Kesler who is a shoot first center would see any real impact on his scoring as a 3rd line center.  

 

No brainer on the 4th line.  Though about Higgins, Rousell and Beagle.  Higgins was a great tweener, but lacked push back.  Dorsett was a motor.  Him playing with Hansen would be awesome  

 

 

I have always believed that the Sedins ended up hurting themselves in the twighligt of their careers by staying on the same line.  By splitting them up, it makes their skill harder to defend.  

 

 

D pairings..   Hughes and Edler play the same side, but they are the top 2 d men.  Healthy younger Hammer was a better player than Tanev, but both could be considered. Hughes would have benefitted from Hammers higher skill.  Mitchell and Tanev make a great shut down pair.  

 

Salo and Bieksa could be anywhere in the group.  

 

The goalies are self explanatory.
