if the Canucks had a cheap guy doing this Jb would be praised and that player would be worth three 1st rounders and a prospect.

uh - no - he'd be worth a player/prospect like Tyler Motte...;)

and CDC would blow a head gasket that he didn't return a mid-late round pick instead.

Told you guys. . even called the price...

Lind for  Kovy at tdl. . Horvat needs a winger and Kovalchuk is the guy.... Kovy is a captain . Leader in locker room our team making playoffs.  Get a guy like Kovy we win cpl rounds. ....

Edit. We're not giving up Lind for him. Sarcasm.. he could get MTL a 2nd.. 3rd for sure.... I think he'll stay out east.

Kovalcash playing Montreal right outta lafrennier

To be fair. There’s a wide variety of suck at the bottom right now. But no one is going to out suck Detroit this year.  They’re really putting their backs into it. Lol

Wtf and who wtf, was Benning talking to? to Lear him away from this deal! Hopefully not listening to some of these guys who think they know what they talking about on these Canuck feeds! Lmao!

Why would a playoff bound team risk their chemistry bringing in Kovi?  And Bergevin is floating he wants a second?

We’re stupid to have not have grabbed him while he was still on free agency! And at that price! Wtf over the stupidity! Kovy could have help or top six! Hand down! Still chapped about it! Lol

Probably worried about disrupting the chemistry on the team.  Kovalchuk doesn't exactly scream 'character guy'.  Although, he would look really nice as an option on the 1st unit PP where Boeser is.

By all reports throughout his career is that he's a terrific teammate, works incredibly hard both during practice and in the off-season, and coaches have always liked him. Any perceived "character issues" by casual hockey fans come from the fact that his last name isn't "Smith" or "Jones".

Then you guys trade for him.  We don’t want him here.  Not a chance in hell JB brings in a guy like Kovi, even if he only costs a seventh round pick.

At no point did I say the Canucks should trade for him or sign him.

You gotta think it has to be a regular occurrence and common knowledge amongst the insiders for it to actually show up on TSN's bio for a player as a flaw.  It's not like Kovy is young either.  They've had years of reports on him now to determine his assets, flaws, and potential.

Scouting Report

Assets Has awesome offensive instincts and a tremendous shot. Can blow by people with superior skating ability. Can dominate in one-on-one situations with defenders. Is capable of playing the point on power plays. Has added more versatility in his game with time.
Flaws Does not use his linemates effectively enough, though he has improved. Is now always prepared for opponents when they bear down on him. Is not very good in the defensive zone. Has a history of occasional moodiness, which hurts both himself and his team.
Career potential Excellent, veteran sniper.

Gotta love TSN and their top notch crew of “Insiders”, especially over people that have actually worked with him:

Quote

“He’ll help the young Russian coming in,” said Desjardins, whose team next hosts New Jersey on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Staples Center. “Kovalchuk’s got great character and he trains hard, so that’ll be good for a young guy coming in.”
