My team still won the game by one goal but it was a hard fought win. The thing that surprised me the most was the amount of focus and attention you need even when the puck is in the other end. You always have to know where the puck is and it is very mentally draining. I was totally exhausted by the end (more exhausted than when I play defense). When your defense, you can at least change but when your goalie, your on there for long periods of time. Our 60 min game only had one 5 min intermission cause we started late so it sucked playing goalie. After that experience, I am very reluctant to criticize goalies and gained a lot of respect for them.
