so trade proposals

can the site provide some basic criteria that posters must take into account

and if they fail to the thread can be deleted ??

criteria:

before you post your thread please ensure you have reviewed the following (and summarize your work in your thread starting post):

1.  does the salary exchanged in the trade work, in that, after the proposed trade goes through, can both or all teams fit the salary of all incoming pieces under their team salary (basic information is available for this on CapFriendly - it lets you know how much available room the team has available under the cap)

2.  does the proposed number of players moved fit into the 50 player contract cap of each of the teams (basic information is available for this on CapFriendly)

3.  do each of the teams in fact have all the assets included in the proposal, don't guess about whether a team has a draft pick or a certain player (ensure you not trade a player twice in the same proposal :P) - look it up (basic information is available for this on CapFriendly)

4.  do any of the players or assets included in the trade proposal have any trade restrictions in their contract - ensure you have addressed these restrictions for any player you wish to make part of your proposal (again, basic information is available for this on CapFriendly)

5.  explain how the trade proposal benefits each team involved and why each team would want the incoming player/draft pick by referring to how the trade addresses needs of each team

** think again about whether the canuck players included in the deal really are worth as much as being suggested.  posters know and appreciate canuck players, they seem to know less about and appreciate less incoming players, and so consistently over value those who have worn the orca.

This is not an advertisement for CapFriendly.   Just a reminder that if you want to do trade proposal posting, all the basic work to ensure a trade can technically work has already been done for you.  You just need to take a look at it as part of the preparation of your proposal.

---------------------------

i am sure i have overlooked something as am very tired today

so this list can be expanded a bit

it seems to me many of the posters interested in the trading topic

post things from the top of their head and ould benefit from a simple guideline that has to be adhered to for a trade to even be possible

There was an article on The Athletic the other day where 2 NHL execs examined reader proposed trades and weighed in on who would say no.  There was a great quote from one of them that essentially said “if you’re adding a 2022 4th to your proposal it’s because you know you haven’t offered enough value.  And btw, a 2022 4th does nothing to increase the value”.  It boils down to the fact that every GM is looking to win a trade. Which means generally quantity for quality  trades are rare.
