Makes sense. 6 hours ago, kenhodgejr said: To SJ Jordie Benn 2020 2nd To Van Brenden Dillon I mean, it's better than the first deal I suppose, but why are we moving a 2nd rd pick for a 29 year old depth player when we likely won't have a 1st rd pick this year? 6 hours ago, kenhodgejr said: To Minnesota Brock Boeser Troy Stetcher Jake Virtanen Louie Eriksson 2021 2nd To Vancouver Jason Zucker Mathew Dumba Losing two of their best players and taking Eriksson's salary makes this brutal for Minny, and improving our D while losing a ton of firepower up front and yet another high pick makes it pretty bad for us too. It's a rare case of both teams losing a trade. Also, you already traded Virtanen once. 6 hours ago, kenhodgejr said: Zucker Pettersson Miller Pearson Horvat Toffoli Roussel Gaudette Leivo Motte Beagle Sutter Edler Dumba Hughes Tanev Dillon Myers Markstrom Demko So at the end of the day we have an improved D, shed Eriksson's contract, we have a deteriorated offense, we're a lot older on the whole, and we've lost a high end prospect and two second round picks. khay
I thought Virtanen is finally reaching his potential. I think Virt > Toffoli as soon as next season if not already. Why are we a contender after these trades?

The way we are playing, everyone wants to make changes and trades, but in the last 5 weeks, this team has about the BEST record in the league. Yes, there have been games where they fall apart, but that's also about being a young team. We have a strong leadership core around the young players, EXACTLY what Benning has been talking about achieving, and we are bouncing back after a bad game, and let's face it, EVERY team in the league has games they would like to forget happened. We are finally in a place where we have the depth to win a long series in a war of attrition, and some fans want to blow that up and start again and bring in guys who do nothing but shuffle the deck for no purpose.

Don't understand the obsession around here with small players with injury issues everyone seems to think are a good acquisition. Pageau, toffoli, perrault, zucker, dumba ... Patel Bure
I’d rather keep Virtanen. Virtanen is much younger and cheaper than Toffoli and likely isn’t that far off from Toffoli level wise these days. Trading Boeser would be dumb(a) since it would deplete our right side.....especially if we get injuries. Boeser is a legit top winger. Would you really want to put all of your chips on a mediocre Zucker, an aging Eriksson, and a developing but still unproven Virtanen?

I suggested Pageau for the following reasons: 1) Great playoff performer. 2) Excellent two way center. Would give the Canucks three legit scoring lines. As much as I love Gaudette, his line isn’t producing much offense. 3) If the Canucks could trade away players that don’t fit into their future plans (Stecher, Baertschi, etc.) for a rental, then it’s a risk that I’d be willing to take. So, you'd run with Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Fantenberg Benn With brisebois, rafferty, juolevi as the 7,8,9 for the playoffs? Rather hold on to stecher and build his trade value for the offseason, trade his rights. Bring Tryamkin back instead of acquiring a d man at a cost, for the playoffs... Edler Myers Hughes Tanev Tryamkin Stecher Fantenberg Benn And have the young d in Utica stay there and play big minutes. Next year Fantenberg and Tanev are ufa Stecher RFA I know Tryamkin likes to play right side as a leftie, but I'm old school and his d partner should atleast be a rightie. Next year Hughes Myers Edler Juolevi Rafferty Tryamkin Benn It's likely Tanev is brought back, nothing against grease in this cap world but I'd like a way to get Pietrangelo to play along side Hughes....or Ekblad
