This is what bothers me. This line is used as the top shut down line yet we are paying defense specialists(Beagle, Schaller, Sutter) millions of dollars to do what? PK specialists?

Horvats line produce goalscoring oppurtunities while matched against the top lines.

Beagle/Schaller is almost in dzone the whole time and don't produceso much in ozone.

Thats the big difference...

You cancall Peteys line a shutdown line if you want also because Petey is defending so much.

Would Horvat's line produce MORE if he wasn't trying to "Shut down" every night? Would his line produce MORE if he had a more talented OFFENSIVE winger such as Boeser or Jake over LE? Come on, think about it.

Not sure if I have the stomach for this one, but since EP is out, I suppose I only need worry about QH getting hammered into the boards and can manage as there should then be less hand-wringing moments per game tonight.

I wonder how many devastating points Tkachuk will get tonight, or will it instead be devastating hits or penalties drawn?

Two hungry teams.

Should be a cage match.

TG is treating this team like a "finished product" and less development of the young core. I remember the days of the top players on the team being key PK guys(Yzerman,Lidstrom,Bure,Linden) and at the very least, young players should be given the chance to try out.

Case in point: Virtanen, who is a quick skater, good checker and is good along the boards and can produce both 5 on5 and on the PP. So how does TG utilize this young talent? Well he puts him on the 3rd line and on the second PP and no PK time. Yes he once was put on the top line, produced, then was sent back to the 3rd line while the much more talented, more valuable LE is permanently put into the top 6. How does that make sense?

Is TG too afraid to try out the young talent for fear of his job? Are we going for the Cup this year?

Remember when he was reluctant to put Hughes on the #1 PP earlier in the year? How does that look now? He was reluctant to take out his veteran Elder off that Unit.

I expressed the idea of reducing the third and fourth lines minutes and balance the lines out more but some CDCer's thought this was ludicrous.

No way should LE be getting top minutes while our more talented younger core players get "Beagle/Schaller" minutes. Throw Jake and Gaud(and other rookies) in their and see what they can do and stop worrying about losing your job TG.

I doubt that is the official roster for tonight.

Beags' line actually do share a lot of match up role tho. In fact, that's the criticism some of the fans brought up in the past.

So they are not just PK specialists. It's because of that, Gaudette's line can be deployed as a semi-scoring line away from tough matchups.

I agree JV could be tried at PP1. But I also think that JV is kinda too quick to make plays at the half wall and that kind of contradicts EP40's style of controlling the puck more.

But ya, tho our PP % overall isn't terrible, it's not been good lately. Perhaps changes could do us good. Just not at the wrong time as we are still pushing for a playoffs spot.

For having LE on top 6, I was skeptical at first but he did play a role in bringing back offensive production from Bo and Pears.

I wouldnt be sad to see a change there tho. If Bailey was to draw in, I think that leaves LE irrelevant. Brock takes that top 6 and Bailey perhaps tried on the 3rd line somewhere.

I don't agree that putting Huggy on PP1 right off the bat was the right move. It was a risky move. If it would have worked out like it did in the end, that's perfect.

But if it hadn't, we are looking at another rushed prospect.

As valuable as Huggy was to our franchise, I do think it was correct to be careful with him.

What if rushing him in did not pan out? Fans would all be protesting for the firing of Green for ruining a franchise D-man and I could prolly be in there with them.

Hope Petey is raring to go. I would also like to see Justin Bailey slotted in. MacEwan looked good on the Horvat line last game.

Petey is always raring to go.  That's part of what makes him so good, his attitude.  I just hope he isn't hurting too much.  Big game tonight.  A few more big bodies might not hurt.  Either way we need to up our physical play.  Go Canucks Go!

Can someone explain to me how this is a ‘4points’ up for grabs game in the standings? Is it cause it’s against the pacific ?

It puts the Canucks up 2 points on the flames and takes away the opportunity for the flames to get 2 more points.

If we win, we widen the gap between us by 4 points.
