I have had 2 heart attacks, both very different, both required triple bypasses. one came on suddenly and the other over a matter of days. I hope to never go thru that again. my son just last summer suffered a heart attack, but his was totally different. his was called SKAD, which is kind of rare, he has not been able to work since. he will finally see a SKAD specialist on the 19th and I am hoping for good news. Never heard of SKAD, you must mean SCAD (spontaneous cardiac artery dissection) hope the news is good. Edited February 12, 2020 by sonoman

I think it’s misdiagnosed because it’s relatively rare and symptoms mimic a MI. “Common things are common” is usually what comes to mind with the clinicians with SCAD way down the differential diagnoses list. Mostly females in 40’s and fifties. Multiple causes. Hopefully it works out for your son.
RUPERTKBD
I'm betting this story hits Jordie Benn and Antoine Roussel pretty hard. Both were there when Rich Peverley suffered his attack. Absolutely the right thing to postpone the game. No-one on either team would want to play after seeing that. Funny thing is, what probably hit me the hardest was watching a Mom that was sitting behind the Blues' bench, hugging her obviously scared and confused little boy as they were taking J-Bo out on the stretcher....

A woman my wife works with got one of these a few months ago, you can live a completely normal life so he should be all good. I would think he wouldn't take the risk of resuming his career tho, whats the point now. 2

A little while ago he went to see the doctor because he was having chest pain. The doctor informed him that he had a heart attack in the middle of the night, and the defibrillator had triggered, and might have saved his life. It worked so well that he didn't even know it had happened.

Coconuts
You've gotta think that's probably the end of his career. It's unfortunate, but the rest of his life has gotta come first. He's won about everything he can. I'm rooting for him to get back on the ice but I'll be surprised if he plays again professionally.

If it is indeed the end, it would be nice to see him dressed for the last home game for them and not necessarily play except maybe the final shift of the evening so he could get a proper send off rather than ending it the way it would end now. Great hockey career that should be celebrated and not remembered for this incident. I think it would be good for Jay mentality and allow him to accept the retirement a bit easier. 1

He's with the Blues for parts of eight years now, I imagine they'll do whatever they can for him. Particularly because he won a cup with them. If this is truly it, I imagine he'll get a nice send off. I'm under the impression the Blues are pretty good to their players.

The tech to keep you alive now is amazing.
