Even with the first 12 minutes of the third going the way they were. There was absolutely no reason for that fight. We weren't getting beaten physically or on the scoreboard. (in fact we had the lead) there were no cheap shots, there was a fight because MacEwan obliged the opponent If you give them an inch, they will take a mile. The same thing happened against Minny. Anyway I hope Zach learns he doesn't always have to drop the mitts. I don't care if he fights standing up for a teammate, but not with the lead for a staged fight. Flame on... I hope for a good game tonight I hope we can start building momentum And I hope Demko has a solid bounce back tonight. Here is the flame you mentioned. We lost the game game because of two dumb penalties. McEwens fight was NOT one of them. That's completely wrong target and is the same "think" that has become close to removing it from the game entirely (it doesn't belong in the game anymore). If someone was asked to write 100 most memorable moments the past 30 years - both Iginla/Lecavalier and McSorely/Clark fights would be in it. Proberts/McSorely too. Used to be we'd have 40-70plus fights per year, no big deal. Now we haven't even managed 10 yet and people are critical of it. Win or lose these guys are factually RARE now. Not talking about the one off "warriors" that hug each other and fall down. I'm sure TG doesn't see it the same way. The fight had virtually nothing about losing. Agree TD better be on today. His back-up outplayed him his last three games. 1

Smashian Kassian
Yikes Hughes questionable. In some ways this could be as big a loss as Marky. Fingers crossed
250Integra
Demko will need to be sharp tonight. Gotta make those first few saves to settle him down and get him in the game.
Lazurus
Every game is now a must win. Markstrom or Demko they are in it deep and the life line is evaporating They have been squandering the opportunity for a month, their record of 4 wins in the last 13 games include losses with Markstrom in net. Even a optimistic estimate of needing only 94 points to make the playoffs would require the team to win as many games in the rest of the season as they did since January 14. To say the heat is on might be an understatement. They need 10 more wins and some help, start with this one. Arizona is in even a worse position but they aren't having as many injury issues. HAVE TO WIN THESE GAMES IN HAND!

His back-up outplayed him his last three games. I think you missed his point. When teams are down, they try to regain momentum, often through a fight or big hit. ZM fought when he didn't need to and it gave CBJ the momentum they were looking for. It was ill-timed and unnecessary.

He didn't lose the fight, he did fine - neither was hurt everyone's ok. Why make that a "turning point" in the game when it wasn't. McEwen did everything he could do to stay relevant - nobody else can even do what he can do - the fact that other guys took two stupid lazy penalties .... was that his fault too? Or maybe Domingues for letting the goals in was his fault too. Sorry I'm not buying it. 2 3 2

I know it's a hockey faux pas to fight on the road late in games when you have the lead. HOWEVER, I think in the case of 2 late PP goals, you can't really put any of that on MacEwan dropping the mitts. The loss can be entirely equated to two really ill-advised penalties, coupled with a new goaltender who has zero experience with this PK. 1 3

spliced
I still can't figure out why when Hughes wasn't playing people thought he was benched, why on earth would you bench Hughes. That was the strangest thing I've seen posted this year. 1 2

PhillipBlunt
So, at this point, there's no actual word on whether Hughes will play or not. Is that a fair assessment?
