Don's Cherries limped into the playoffs as the last seed, but Mackenzie Blackwood going in for Demko ignited a fire within the team to go back to the finals.

@Time Lord's Team put up a hard fought series, that decided to take a break at game stop. But in the end, the Italian Stallion proved once again that he is clutch when it counts.

Italy shall forever be known for 3 things: Pizza, Pasta, and CHET CIRALDO!

It is with sorrow that I conclude this to be the end of official ZHM sims.

With that being said, the tell all is below

Quote

- Sim engine completely started from scratch by me

- Very basic stuff

- Main goal when I created the sim engine was to be able to sim as many games as possible as quickly as possible. I could do a 5000 game simset with every screenshot uploaded in less than an hour.

Quote

- The shots and luck attribute entirely determined if a shot went in (paired with G skill).

- Due to a lack of complexity, someone with 90 shooting vs someone with 99 shooting had a very small difference (like 10% :D)

Quote

- The most important attribute to win was speed

- Team speed specifically

- Home ice advantage was real

- Speed basically determined who got the next shot off, with forwards "matched up" against each other more often than D.

- having a guy with 99 speed vs the opponents 97 speed meant you were favored to get the next shot off, which could lead to team domination

- there was a small random control, factored by home ice/away ice
- for example, if the away player was the 99 speed guy, his speed might have a reduction modifier between 0-5 vs the home guys no reduction, rendering the home guy with the speed advantage (usually).

- big gaps in speed matchups were unideal

- if a team of 3 all had 99 speed vs another teams all 90s, the shots would be like 20-0

- I controlled the speed attribute closely for the most part to ensure some parity

- McDavid only one whose OP, his speed I believe beats anyone he matches up with all the time due to it being 105 (no other guy had >99)

Quote

- The results were all simply written to an IMG file

- The "sims" happened in the background with the math done as mentioned above

Was a fun time!
