Popular Post Nail Posted November 27, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted November 27, 2020 2027 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 5 Neil Sartoretto (C/LW/RW) Currently 5th in WHL scoring with 24 goals and 78 points through 63 games this season, the playmaking forward for the Red Deer Rebels has produced 245 career points over 207 WHL games in the past 3 years. Sartoretto's best attributes are his passing and stickhandling as expected, and it is a bit surprising how many goals he has put up, as his shot really is not that good. One of the older prospects in the draft, Sartoretto is a decent skater, but due to some defensive restraints he may end up projecting as a winger at the NHL level. Nonetheless, his offensive production has put him on many teams radars. Kirill Rhinehart (LW) Picture this: A 6'7, 209 lbs winger that is known for his ability to score goals. Rhinehart is about to hit the 30 goal mark this year for the Edmonton Oil Kings, while producing at a point per game clip overall. Rhinehart likes to use his size effectively, with over 200 hits so far however there are some scouts that want to see him put on a bit more weight to really take advantage of his frame. Rhinehart has really good abilities in tight, however is not known for his defense at all. This will be something that shies teams away from him, and may affect his draft stock. Brent Bauld (RW) Another older draft prospect from the WHL, Bauld is currently in his 3rd season with the Kamloops Blazers. The goal scoring winger has put up 28 goals and 53 points in 63 games this year, with only 12 of these points coming on the powerplay. At 6'2 and 216 lbs, Bauld is stockier than most, and as a result has some issues skating wise. There's no denying his offensive abilities, his shot is very good and could allow him to score goals at the NHL level. However, he has his issues getting up and down the ice, and he is not very strong defensively. William MacKinnon (LW/RW) Another goal scoring winger from the WHL, MacKinnon got some draft exposure last season while playing for the Medicine Hat Tigers at the Memorial Cup. This season, MacKinnon has 34 goals and 67 points through 63 games. In some ways, MacKinnon is similar to Bauld. Not a great skater, but offensive talent that allows himself to create chances offensively. MacKinnon may be one of the biggest boom/bust players in this years draft, as some scouts think he has the worst defensive abilities that they have seen in recent years. How will this affect MacKinnon's draft stock? Only time will tell. Michael Lockhart (LW) A playmaking winger playing for the Victoria Royals, Lockhart has showed more of a goal scoring touch this season, with 39 goals and 72 points through 61 games. At 6 ft and 194 lbs, Lockhart has NHL size, and most definitely has NHL speed as well. Much of his offensive and defensive game is still developing, and some scouts believe he could have some untapped NHL potential should his development continue on his current track. Led by the same young core, but with a different compliment of veterans, they are still looking to make some noise. The questions still being asked going into the playoffs: -Can Nik and Nico carry on their performance in the playoffs? -Does Pietrangelo have enough gas in the tank on the second pairing? -Did Pugin have a down year by his standards because he was saving himself for another playoff run? -Can Voracek still think the game fast enough to make up for his cement skates? -Does Andreas want to show his bro Dimitris that he is still the star of the family? -Does none of this matter because Jimmy is all-world, and it doesn't even matter what the rest of the team does?
