Popular Post Nail
Draft Tidbits Part 2 "Projected Top 5 Edition" Nolan Patrick (C) Patrick has looked like a man amongst boys this season in the WHL, currently sitting 3rd in league scoring with 38 points in 29 games. He has won an impressive 65% of his faceoffs, and has been teaming up with fellow draft eligible Stelio Mattheos to form a dynamic line in Brandon. There is no doubt that Patrick could have made an impact this season in the NHL. Elias Pettersson (C/LW) Pettersson is almost producing at a goal per game clip in the Swedish J20 league, with 12 goals and 20 points in 13 games. The playmaking forward is receiving offers from the top SHL teams and is expected to play his D+1 season there, in order to bulk up on strength. Nico Hischier (C) Hischer is currently 5th in QMJHL scoring, with 42 points in 31 games. The finesse centerman has had no issues adapting to the North American lifestyle, and is showing that he can step into a teams top 6 as early as next season. Miro Heiskanen (LD/RD) Heiskanen has split time this season between the Liiga and the J20 leagues in Finland. As a 17 year old, Heiskanen is the 3rd highest rookie producing defenseman, with 10 points in 24 games. He has dominated at the J20 level with 8 points in 6 games. It is likely that Heiskanen will spend his D+1 season in Finland. Cale Makar (RD) The unknown player in the top 5, scouts aren't sure whether Makar's stats (31 points in 21 games) is even good enough in the AJHL to warrant a top 5 pick. There are some concerns about the defensive side to Makar's game however he has the best +/- on his team. He will head to UMass next season in the NCAA. 4 3
