Popular Post Nail
2024 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 1 SOME FAMILIAR FACES.. Prelude: This upcoming draft might be a good draft to pick anywhere in the top 10. Early reports state that there could be as many as 3 generational prospects in this draft and possibly an additional 3 franchise prospects as well as a couple elite prospects. An early diagnosis shows most of these players should go early, meaning the top end talent will be gone after the top 10. Seb Wild (RW) A playmaking forward with tenacious work ethic, Wild is known for his work along the boards and agitating other members of the OHL. He has a deep love for the Vancouver Canucks, and is currently slated to be a top 5 pick from the preliminary rankings. In his second season with Kingston, Wild is off to a fast start with 8 goals and 14 points in 14 games. If there is one thing that Wild is not good at, it is definitely regarding the D. Once drafted, Wild will need a GM to give him the D, and show him the ropes to help him become more well rounded. Pirmin Walker (LW) A two-way forward in his second season with Rouyn-Noranda in the QMJHL, Walker has shown flashes of having a very high potential but hasn't been able to put it all together quite yet. Through 17 games this year, Walker has 4 goals and 12 points. His defensive game is already NHL ready, and once he grows more this will become one of his best assets in the NHL. His offense is there too, but will need to also improve on this. The major area of concern for Walker is currently regarding his skating. Right now that's his biggest weakness, and could be the thing to hold him back. Kyllian Scheidt (C) In some ways, is a very similar player to Walker, however is a center. A big two-way forward at 6'3 and 238 lbs, Scheidt is off to a fast start playing in the Swiss Junior league this year with 5 goals and 7 assists in 12 games. Scheidt looks like a jack of all trades type player. He doesn't have any particular skills which may stand out from others, but his offensive and defensive game are both so well rounded that he will be able to provide an impact in all areas of the ice. Scheidt will also have to work on his skating, similarly to Walker. Timo Boschman (LW) Currently in his rookie season for Prince George in the WHL, Boschman has 9 goals and 8 assists for 17 points in 14 games. Through these 14 games, he's sporting a very impressive AVR of 7.93. Boschman undisputedly has the best shot in this years draft. Both his wristshot and slapshot are already the max in EHM, but it is just a matter of him putting the rest of his game together. As of right now, his defensive game is poor and his skating is just ok. If he is able to improve both of these greatly, some think that Boschman could become one of the best goal scorers in the game, however that may be a big task to ask. S:t Cyr Backman (G) Still looking for your goalie? Backman may be your guy. Some scouts think Backman has the potential to be the best goalie drafted in all of RGMG 6.0, and although he has only played 3 games this season for Djurgardens J20, he already has a solid .924 sv%. Backman already has an impressive range of goaltending abilities, and as he continues to improve these will only get better. One major area of concern for Backman is with his size and strength. At only 6'0 tall, Backman will always be battling a height disadvantage but he is also only 158 lbs. At this size, he has minimal strength right now and that is something he needs to work on. 3 4
