Popular Post Nail
2024 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 5 THE FINAL EDITION Kirill Doronchenko (LW) The late birthday sniping winger Doronchenko has made his KHL debut this season while playing for the dynamite SKA program. Through 18 games, Doronchenko has shown an ability to put the puck in the net with 7 goals and 11 points. The other half of his season has been spent with SKA's U18 team, where he's put up 8 goals and 15 points in 19 games. Doronchenko currently projects as a mid round pick, however it is pretty rare for players that aren't the top end guys to be playing in the KHL in their draft years. At 6'1 and just 165 lbs, Doronchenko has a lot of room to grow physically still. Gabriel Bolm (LW) Bolm, a late birthday German finesse forward, has been playing in the DEL for Ingolstadt full time since he was 15 years old. Through 36 games so far this season, Bolm has 9 goals and 26 points. This pushes his career DEL totals to 92 points in 172 games. Any prospect that has 4 seasons of pro under their belt while in their draft year will get attention from scouts. There are some scouts who think he can legitimately grow and become even more, but others question if Bolm is your classic case of a peak way too early. Only time will tell to see how Bolm turns out. Andrew Graham (RD/LD) Graham is a playmaking offensive defenceman currently playing for the Dieppe Commandos in the MHL. With his eyes set on a college scholarship, Graham is currently uncommitted and may find himself in the AHL next season with his newly drafted team, should he get drafted. In 50 games this year, Graham has shown his offensive upside with 17 goals and 42 points. Graham is on the smaller but thicker side, coming in at 5'11 and 200 lbs. Some scouts are concerned about Graham's top end acceleration, and there also concerns about his conditioning playing against weaker competition than most. Johnny Pettersson (C/LW) Pettersson has made his SHL debut for Farjestad this year, appearing in 8 games and recording 1 assist. With Farjestads J20 team, Pettersson has 4 goals and 10 points in 18 games. The two-way forward plays a pro-like game, coming in at 6'3 and 194 lbs. There is much to like about his complete game, there are no major holes in any of his attributes. When fully developed, Pettersson may not turn into an offensive dynamo like his long lost cousin Elias, however he can fully be relied upon defensively to ensure goals going in his net aren't his fault. Tomas Travnik (LD) From a pure skill talent level right now, some scouts think Travnik may be up there with some of the other top defenceman in this draft class as one of the best. The problem is, it is extremely hard for scouts to tell what his ceiling is. Playing in the Czech U18 league, the playmaking offensive defenceman has put up insane numbers with 18 goals and 57 points in 30 games. However, he hasn't had a sniff at all in the top Czech league. Could this be an attitude issue? Some scouts think this is too good to be true, and there must be something that is holding Travnik back. It is something to keep an eye on as we head into the draft. 4 1
