Popular Post Nail
2025 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 2 Martin Caha (C) A 6'1 198 lbs playmaking centerman that is playing for Vitkovice in the Czech Extraliga this season, Caha is off to a fast start with 5 goals and 12 assists in 16 games thsu far. This is Caha's first full season in the top Czech league, after making his initial debut all the way back in 2020-21. Caha plays your prototypical playmaking game, with strengths including his passing and vision. Overall, Caha plays a very pro-like game with not many deficiencies. By all means, Caha can turn into a playmaking two-way forward who can control all ends of the ice. Right now, Caha is getting some interest from the KHL as it looks like he may make the jump there soon. John Motte (C/LW/RW) A prospect playing for the Las Vegas Storm U18 team, Motte is off to a fantastic start with 7 goals and 21 points through 17 games this season. A smaller two-way forward at just 5'8 and 171 lbs, Motte has the potential to make a big impact at the NHL level. With 20's in acceleration and speed, Motte is one of the fastest players in this draft class. As you would expect with some smaller players, he needs to work on his strength. However, Motte has shown versatility playing all three positions, and already has defensive stats that would put him in the upper echelon of the NHL right now. Layne Aleman (RD/LD) Another diminutive draft prospect, this time a defenceman. Aleman stands at 5'9 and weighs 178 lbs and is in his second season with Cape Breton in the QMJHL. Last season, Aleman introduced himself to scouts with a bang putting up 51 points in 68 games from the back end. This year, he's off to a similar start with 17 points through 27 games. Aleman is an extremely good skater, and although listed as a playmaking offensive defenceman, projects to be a minute munching defenceman at the NHL that can play in every single situation at a top level. Mitchell Murray (RW) Likely the hottest player in this draft class right now, Murray's start with Blainville-Boisbriand in the QMJHL is insane. Through 29 games, Murray has 27 goals and 46 points. The craziest thing about all of this is that Murray isn't even known for his goal scoring abilities. The finesse forward plays an offensive minded game that relies on his stickhandling, deking and passing. The shot is there, however it likely won't translate like this to an NHL level unless it improves. Like many finesse forwards, Murray is also poor defensively and that is something he must work on. Olli Goljahanpoor (RW) Goljahanpoor is in his rookie season for Jokerit in the KHL. Through 32 games thus far, Goljahanpoor has chipped in with 1 goal and 9 assists, while playing a heavy penalty killing role. Goljahanpoor is listed as a defensive forward, which may drop his draft stock this upcoming draft however whichever team ends up with him will be very lucky. While his defensive capabilities are not quite up there with other top defensive forwards in the NHL, Goljahanpoor is still young and has room to improve. Add in a decent set of offensive skills, and you will be looking at a TA beast who can chip in with some points. 11 1 1 1 1
