Popular Post Nail
2027 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 3 Philip Schoettler (C) Fresh off a World Juniors apperance with Canada, Schoettler is a 6'5 231 lbs two-way forward who is in his second year with the Everett Silvertips in the WHL. Last year, Schoettler had 70 points in 70 games. This year, through 34 games, Schoettler has 30 points to date. Schoettler has a pro-ready game, and plays like a two-way forward is supposed to. He isn't elite offensively or defensively, but is solid throughout which should make him one of the safer picks in this years draft. For such a big body, Schoettler is a good skater, which may help his draft stock this offseason. Louka Grannary (C/LW/RW) Nobody may have benefited more from the World Juniors than Grannary after leading the entire tournament in scoring. The finesse forward who is capable of playing all three forward positions showed off his skills and skating at the World Juniors, and will definitely get a boost in some draft rankings after his performances. Grannary has improved greatly off of his rookie season with Ottawa in the OHL, with 40 points in 36 games so far this season. Although he has high end offensive talent, Grannary's shot is quite weak and will need to improve a bit in order for him to consistently score on NHL goalies. Borre Odegaard (C) A 6 ft 209 lbs playmaking center, Odergaard is a Norweigan who has made his way over to the CHL and is currently playing in his rookie season for the Val d'Or Foreurs. Through 40 games this year, Odergaard has 14 goals and 40 points. Odegaard plays a very mature game, with plenty of offensive traits that you would want from a prospect. He is a decent skater, although scouts want to see him gain some strength. Don't expect Odegaard to be scoring goals at the NHL level, his shot is putrid and he relies on passing the puck almost every time unless he has an open net to shoot at. Maris Kenins (RW) There were some rumours the Latvian would make his way to Prince George after being the #1 pick in the CHL Import Draft last year, however the goal scoring winger was able to make the KHL's Dinamo Riga and has taken off from there. Through 49 games, Kenins has 22 goals and 38 points making him one of the top rookie scorers in the entire KHL. A nephew of Ronalds, as a sniper, Maris doesn't even have a great shot yet, but as he continues to improve it there is no denying his natural talent to score goals. Kenins is very raw defensively, and will need some time to work on his game there. Sergey Kuznetsov (LD/RD) Another rookie in the KHL, this time a playmaking offensive defenceman who has managed to stick on one of the best teams in the league in SKA. Appearing in 43 games, Kuznetsov has 3 goals and 14 points while primarily playing an even strength role only. Although listed as an OFD, Kuznetsov's best attributes actually come defensively, where he can be relied upon to do his job with ease. He is a very good skater, and at 6'5 takes up a lot of the ice. When in the offensive zone, Kuznetsov prefers to pass, as his shot right now is not very good. 2 3
