2028 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 3

Branden Grannery (RW/LW)

  • The brother of New Jersey Devils draft pick Louka Grannary, Branden is a small 5'9 183 lbs skilled forward playing for the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL. Through 35 games this season, Grannery has put up 26 goals and 45 points. He has been named to the Canadian World Juniors team, an impressive feat for a 17 year old. Grannery is a fast skating forward whos best skills are his stickhandling and deking. At his size, it's hard for him to make an impact defensively, and Grannery will have to improve on his shot in order to produce more at an NHL level.

Brent Falk (C)

  • A top prospect for this years draft out of the Melville Millionaires organization in the SJHL, Falk is a 6'1 194 lbs two-way forward. Falk has his eyes set on playing in the NCAA next season, but may end up in the AHL. Falk is an exceptional skater with a top speed that can only be matched by a few others in this draft class. Although listed as a two-way forward, Falk has some work to do in order to improve defensively. He is average right now, but nothing special. Offensively, Falk is gifted with a pretty good shot and passing ability.

Cameron Sheary (RW/C)

  • A prospect out of the GTHL? Sheary is playing for the Markham Majors and has put up 17 goals and 29 points in 25 games so far this season. The playmaking forward has good size at 6'1 and 213 lbs, and is likely to end up playing in the AHL next season. Sheary is at his best when he has the puck and looks for options to pass to. When he doesn't have the puck, there are some major red flags to his game including in the defensive zone. Although Sheary has center as a secondary position, he should strictly stick to being a winger if he makes the NHL in the future.

Matt Bentley (C)

  • A teammate of fellow top prospect Jake Redmond at the Anaheim Jr. Ducks program, Bentley is a 6'1 200 lbs goal scoring centerman. Bentley is a very good skater for his size, and his shot is something that allows him to score lots of goals. Through 27 games this year, Bentley has scored 16 times, to go with 9 assists. Bentley may eventually have to transition over to the wing at the pro level, as his defensive game is atrocious. Heading into the future, Bentley will need to work on his defensive game as well as his passing.

Kiki Hayes (RD)

  • Kiki... Do you love me... Hayes is a playmaking offensive defenceman playing for the Las Vegas Storm. Standing at 5'10 and 187 lbs, Hayes is on the smaller side to be a defenceman but makes up for it with his offensive and skating abilities. Hayes has a very raw game, he may be a project for whomever drafts him, but many of his attributes are already off to a great start. It is very likely that Hayes will end up in the AHL next season, and for a prospect that is a bit underdeveloped, may or may not benefit him in the future.
