Popular Post Nail
2033 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 1 Paul Walker (RD/LD) The former #1 pick in the 2031 OHL Draft, Walker is looking to do the same in the NHL after being the top ranked prospect for this season. In 14 games thus far for the Guelph Storm, the offensive defenceman has 4 goals and 12 points while playing over 25 minutes a night on average. Walker has excellent offensive instincts and has the potential to be one of the best point producers in the NHL from the backend, but needs to work on his defensive game. Niklas Palosaari (RD) Rivaling Walker for top defenceman is Palosaari, a Finnish born offensive defenceman who as a late birthday is already in his 2nd season for Jokerit in the KHL. In 25 games this season, Palosaari has 2 goals and 10 points. Palosaari has been able to carve out a decent role as a draft eligible, and is playing just under 20 minutes a night so far. Eric Johansson (G) The top goaltending prospect at the preliminary rankings this season is Johansson, a late birthday Swedish born butterfly goalie. As a draft eligible, Johansson has been the starting goalie for Djurgarden in the SHL this season. Although his stats are very poor (3-7-1, 3.99 GAA and 0.866 SV%), Johansson is getting valuable playing time against men and this has helped him be ranked as the top G. Matthew Patrick (LD/RD) Talk about a draft for defenseman and late birthdays. Patrick is another late birthday playmaking defenceman currently in the midst of his third season with the Quebec Remparts in the QMJHL. This season in 17 games, Patrick has chipped in with 11 assists. Patrick may not have as polished of an offensive game as some of his counterparts, but he makes up for it with a better defensive game. Stephane De Luca (LD) De Luca is an offensive defenceman in his second season for the Kingston Frontenacs in the OHL. Last season, De Luca's draft stock raised as the Frontenacs reached the Memorial Cup, giving De Luca additional exposure to scouts. This season, De Luca has 2 goals and 8 points in 14 games thus far. De Luca may not be as matured as some of the other defenceman, but it's possible he has a higher ceiling. 9 1

Popular Post Nail
2033 DRAFT TIDBITS PART 2 Samu Tuovinen (G) Another top ranked goalie prospect within this draft, Tuovinen is currently a draft eligible starter for TPS in Liiga. In 17 appearances this season, Tuovinen has a 10-5-0 record and has a save percentage just under .900. The hybrid goalie is big in size and takes up lots of the net, but there are some concerns that his speed and stamina will need to improve greatly for his game to take the next step. Ethan Antonini (C) A playmaking center aiming to play college hockey next season, Antonini is in his first season with the Sioux City Musketeers in the USHL. In 21 games this season, Antonini has 8 goals and 10 assists. Right now, Antonini is a pretty raw and underdeveloped prospect, and may need time to mature. Both his defensive game and shot are just "ok". Mike DenBeste (LW/RW) A two-way forward currently playing highschool hockey for Northwood Prep, DenBeste may be only one or two years away from making an impact at the NHL level despite the competition he is currently playing against. DenBeste has NHL size, and has the defensive capabilities to handle himself with ease. Offensively, he has 10 goals and 30 points this season in 20 games. Vitus Johannessen (C) A Danish born two-way center, Johannessen is looking to follow the footsteps of Sabres forward Palle Kohlert after he was drafted 1st overall a couple years ago. Playing in the top league in Denmark, Johannessen has 8 goals and 8 assists through 13 games. Johannessen was drafted by the Oshawa Generals in the CHL Import Draft, and it could be possible he goes there next season. Andre Filipovic (LW) A playmaking forward who has just started to break in and play at the top level in Sweden, appearing in 6 games for Leksand thus far. In those 6 games, Filipovic has 1 goal and 3 assists. Filipovic is a very offensive minded player who has little regard for the defensive side of the puck. That being said, both his shot and passing are about equal, making him a dual offensive threat. 8 2
